Pay-for-view channel Starz has announced that Gravity won’t be back for a second year. The show completed its run last week after just 10 episodes.
Gravity is a dramatic comedy that follows a group from an eccentric out-patient program for suicide survivors. Co-created by Eric Schaeffer and Jill Franklyn, the cast includes Schaeffer, Ivan Sergei, James Martinez, Krysten Ritter, Rachel Hunter, Robyn Cohen, Seth Numrich, and Ving Rhames.
Starz had high hopes for the series but it just never caught on. The season (now series) finale attracted an invisible 0.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic and just 54,000 viewers. To no surprise, Starz has admitted that neither Gravity nor Party Down will be returning for another round.
In a statement, Stephan Shelanski, Starz’ executive VP of programming, said, “After careful consideration, we’ve decided not to continue on with subsequent seasons of Party Down and Gravity. We’re grateful to everyone involved in the shows, and are proud to have had them on the channel. Starz remains committed to aggressively expanding our original programming lineup.”
What do you think? Did you watch Gravity? Why do you think it didn’t catch on?

I am so dissapointed in television for middle America. Every time a new series comes on that has hit a nerve that has not been expressed before, the velveeta eaters of America are so slow to catch on, and let it die. Gravity was a new genre of television. It hit upon emotions that are so overlooked in todays mainstream viewing practices. A rare gimpse into the mind of emotional wreckage rarely seen in Hollywood. Here was something that added new life and a bit of comedy to a subject most are afraid to discuss, and away it goes like… Read more »
Loved this show. I never heard about it and stumbled on it by accident. I’m so very disappointed there is no season two. I watched the whole first season in one day. I was hooked
One of the best series I’ve seen in a long time. So disappointed there is no season two!
Oh man…I loved this series…
It’s pretty frustrating when you follow a TV series and it just ends up cancelled…
And the way it ended at the finale just made me very curious on what would have happened…
loved the show. just finished it on netflix . icant believe theres no season 2! i’m 23
its a shame this show was incredibly good. it had a dark humor that is not seen very often in other shows.
This show was fabulous!!!! Maybe they should have advertised it a little. No one has ever heard of it and I tripped over it by accident. But now that I am hooked, No season 2? Come on Starz, that just is not right.
I really liked this series and am very disappointed that it is not returning. I stumbled on it by accident, so I think maybe there could have been more promotion???
I thought the show was great. Very original and extremely funny. It did an amazing job of keeping a storyline going that was actually interesting and exciting to see what comes next. A shame that it will not be around for another season. I think it really would have caught on given a chance.
Absolutely fantastic series. Unfortunately, I only recently found it on Netflix…
It’s a real shame this is not coming back.
I’m 34, by the way…
