Grimm aired its series finale at the end of March, and recently executive producers David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf spoke with Deadline about a possible future for the NBC TV show.
The show follows Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli), a homicide detective who fights mythological forces. The cast also includes Russell Hornsby, Silas Weir Mitchell, Bitsie Tulloch, Reggie Lee, Sasha Roiz, Bree Turner, and Claire Coffee.
In the interview, Kouf said they’d be open to a Grimm spin-off but the series ending was meant to have closure:
We just leave all our options open. You just never know. … It seemed like a very fairytale ending to the show. We really wanted to close the book on it.”
When asked about the possible future for Nick and Juliette, Greenwalt said the ending they got was more realistic:
There are a lot of people who have a lot of opinions about that on both sides of that question. But I think that there was such a beautiful speech in the third to last episode in which Eve/Juliette says, “I wouldn’t go back if I could … We’ve all grown, we’re all different now than we were.” So I think that’s more realistic.”
What do you think? Are you a fan of Grimm? Would you watch a spin-off?
We in the U.K. havent seen the end yet but am waiting with baited breath. I’m dreading it finishing….we loved Grimm….it got better & better with each series. Not many shows can do that. Would love a spin off & yes we would be watching. Please consider it….we know you want too
Yes!!! I heard Trubel mentioned maybe a spinoff, with Diana and Kelly all grown up and the Triplets…that would make for a great Spinoff, Trubel would be their older mentor.
This Friday — the first after Grimm ended — I was so sad not to have my favourite show to watch! Yes to a full cast return, less so to a spin0ff. But more Trubel in whatever you decide, please. You never had her in it enough. Loved Monroe and Rosalie, Wu and, again, Trubel. It was so upsetting to have it end. Why can’t shoes take a year off then come back and just do 10 episodes or something like that. It would keep things fresh and be more like the British system, but we’ve moved so much more… Read more »
