NBC is not grim about Grimm. While it hasn’t yet decided whether to cancel the Grimm TV series after season five or renew it for a season six, NBC’s Entertainment Chair, Robert Greenblatt, sounds more positive than negative about the fate of this fantasy police procedural drama.
Greenblatt spoke to The Oregonian‘s Kristi Turnquist during the TCA winter press tour. As quoted below, it sounds like the Peacock Network is more fond than not of this Friday night fright-fest. Brimming with Wesen-ality, Grimm stars: David Giuntoli, Russel Hornsby, Silas Weir Mitchell, Bree Turner, Silas Weir, Mitchell, Sasha Roiz, Claire Coffee, and yes, Bitsie Tulloch.
From OregonLive.com (emphasis ours):
Will “Grimm” be renewed?: The ratings have been down so far in Season 5. When I asked NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt about the show’s future at the recent Television Critics Association Winter 2016 Press Tour, Greenblatt said, “We like ‘Grimm.’ It hasn’t been renewed yet, but it’s a show we love, and it’s actually a big international success for our company.” Greenblatt added, “I think ‘Grimm’ isn’t going anywhere. Which is a hedging sort of statement. We haven’t decided. But we like ‘Grimm.'”
Airing on Fridays, which is traditionally a low viewership night, especially for the advertiser-prized younger segment of viewers, “Grimm” picks up viewers via delayed viewing, Greenblatt said.
“I think the numbers have gone down a little bit because of that,” he said. “But there are some really great ideas for future shows. ‘Grimm”s OK.”
But as Greenblatt said, that’s not a confirmation of renewal, so we’ll have to wait and see.
The season 5B premiere of Grimm airs tomorrow, Friday, January 29, 2016, at 9:00pm ET/PT. Check out this article teasing Grimm‘s return, chock full of new season five photos.
Are you a fan of the Grimm TV show? Do you plan to tune in for the season 5B premiere on NBC? Do you think Grimm should be cancelled after the fifth season or renewed for a sixth season? Make your voice heard, below.
KEEP GRIMM ON. WE LOVE THIS SHOW.
i love Grimm big fan since the start. please keep it on the air , so much more to see. its way better than all those reality shows on air, so bored with them . I like the new changes this year with Nick and Adalind and I really like Eve better than Juliette. Very imaginative and entertaining show. please renew it
The comment that there is low ratings, it’s not because you don’t have a low following, it’s because there isn’t continuity in the showing. You show one to three shows and throw in something that your Friday night viewers aren’t interested in. Show a few more episodes, and it’s off for 6 months. NBC should be more loyal to its watchers.
I would like to see Grimm continue, it’s one of my wife’s and mine favorite. shows,
I am hoping to see season 6, 7, 8. There is so much more that can happen on this show and it’s far more entertaining than the stupid “comedies” they have now. Grimm is the only show I watch. Everything else on TV is adult content, not family oriented, where Grimm is a fun family show. Please, please keep this show on the air.
please dont take this show off!!! its the only tv show I truly love and look forward to seeing every week
Don’t cancel Grimm. Our family loves it.
Plz plz plz-DO NOT CANCEL Grimm…its an excellent show & has WAY more followers than Dateline ever THOUGHT of having. Its entertaining, thought provoking, funny, & had potential for SO MANY other story lines! This show could go on f.o.r.e.v.e.r.!!! Cashcow…duh!
I have been a Grimm fan since it came on. It is what TV is suppose to do it entertains and takes me to Portalnd and into the lives of all the actors. The one hour show makes me forget time it flies by and never seems like an hour has passed. I DVR and rewatch it so I don’t miss anything. The actors make me love them or hate them as they play out their roles. I think about the storyline from one week to the next and try to figure out about the different plots. Other than Grimm… Read more »
I have watched Grimm since the beginning! This season, I’ve gotten other family members hooked. We even did multiple Grimm marathons so that we all had the full history. My son wants us to visit Portland for our summer trip, and we’re making it a Grimm trip. We love the direction it is moving right now, with the keys and the map, etc. We love Monroe and Wu (sorry if I misspelled it)! Their snarky comedy lightens things up (especially for younger viewers), and keeps the show moving. Please keep Grimm alive and bring it back for more seasons! So… Read more »
Grimm is one of the very few shows I watch on network TV anymore. Please renew the show. Bring little Diana into the series…
The show started off being interesting to an older person. Now, every single crime is a Wesen. There us not enough comedic relief. The show has gone from a grimms fairy tale plot to a super action hero show. Where are the fairy tale tie ins? There are also no fat women but plenty if fat men. No derbwomen but plenty of older men. You killed off Nick’s Mom who was a much better actress than Bitsie. She is unbelievable with the levitation and so on. The only good part are the good actirscsmd actresses and Truble needs sweeter roles.… Read more »
I love watching Grimm it’s a gd show. I had never watched till it was on 1 morning on TNT & I was instantly hooked!! I even got my 63 yr old mom hooked watching it. We was reruns & will watch them again. Plz plz don’t take it off the air.
Grimm is a great show. Please keep going. Thank you.
Grimm is one of my favorite shows. I usually don’t get to watch until the middle of the next week. I agree with some of the comments about not knowing when it’s going to be on. I have a DVR so it’s not a problem but it seems like NBC is pretty inconsistent airing episodes. I’ve notice since 2016 episodes it’s started it seems like it’s every other week. Maybe some consistency will help ratings. I won’t stop watching a show I really like for this reason but a lot of people will. I agree with the writing could use… Read more »
