NBC has sent their pair of serial killer TV shows packing to Saturday night. The network is moving both Hannibal and Aquarius from their Thursday night timeslots to Saturday evenings. Both series have been performing very poorly in the ratings.
Starring Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen, Hannibal is currently in its third season and has already been cancelled by the network. Efforts continue to find it a new home.
Meanwhile, Aquarius has already been renewed for a second season. NBC made all of the season’s episodes available online in advance of their television debut. They’ve since taken down all but the five most recent episodes.
What do you think? Do you like either of these shows? Does it matter to you that they’re being moved to Saturday nights?
I’m glad to see that Aquarius has been renewed. It’s a very smartly written and engaging show. Sorry to see it go to Saturday though. That’s where shows go to die. Remember it took Seinfeld at least 2 seasons to really hit its stride
And took Star Trek 20 years, but then what a success.
Not surprised ‘Hannbal’ was cancelled-the surprise to me was that it was ever on network tv at all! I am very disappointed, though, as it is perhaps THE best written and acted show on television.
I don’t care that it’s on Saturday-as long as it isn’t on Sunday. I DVR everything like everyone else. But cable and network all seem to think all new shows need to go on Sunday and we can only DVR so many, HBO, PBS & Showtime win every time.
Problem was they posted all of Aquarius before it aired on VOD and Online. so I binge watched the entire season 1 weekend. This hurts the weekly ratings.
Aquarius is one of our favorite shows. Look forward to it each week. What a waste of a good storyline and talent to even think of canceling it makes no sense.
Love Hannibal. Best show on television since Journeyman. Another one cancelled to soon. Season 3 has had its ups and down, mostly good though. Not surprised its being cancelled though. The great shows always get cancelled to soon, while the dreck like so-called ‘reality show’ crap remains on tv because that what the mindless masses crave. Shows with originality and taste, great acting, and storyline have no chance. What a shame.
Doesnt sound like Hannibal will have a chance anywhere with a season 4, so yes I hope this season serves as a fitting conclusion.
We love love love Aquarius!
Love Aquarius.
It doesn’t MATTER what day anything is on anymore – everyone has a DVR setup, and you can also watch it on On Demand the next day. I don’t know what all these “ratings” are about these days, because everyone watches their shows whenever they want. I like Aquarius, and I watch it when I want to.
I understand that Hannibal is not for everyone, but it is an awesome show. It requires a great deal of concentration. I hope that it lands somewhere so I will be able to continue to watch. Do not like Aquarius, gave up on it after two episodes.
i can’t stand Hannibal and I don’t care where it goes. I’ve hated it from the beginning but my wife seems to find something interesting in the program so I’m stuck with it for now.We both like Aquarius and will record it wherever it ends up but it would be fatal to schedule it against Hell on wheels.
I like Aquarius, & think it’s a really good show & am glad it’s coming back but lik everything else w/NBC they never give show a break which really make me not get into the shows because before you know it it’s been cancelled.. Come on NBC give us a break… & stop canceling these really good shows..
Aquarius is a good show. Perhaps being on Saturdays and one of the only new shows that are not reruns it may win the night. Either way it has already been green lighted for Season 2. Hannibal….just burn it off on any night at this point.
Love Aquarius!!! I don’t care what night they move it to, since I DVR everything
Same here, to me it matters not at all which night any show airs, I DVR everything and watch whenever I want. I love Aquarius, Duchovny is doing some of his best work here.
I love Hannibal, but what is the point of watching it now? I stopped watching when I heard it was canceled. I don’t want to waste the rest of my summer only to be left hanging for the rest of my life wondering what happened. It is getting continually difficult to invest in any show that has a continuing story line when it is on network television.
Don’t care for Hannibal but LOVE Aquarius! Don’t care which night it is on, I will watch it on whatever night it runs.
