After loads of promotion, TV Land has now debuted their original sitcom, Hot in Cleveland. Starring a quartet of sitcom veterans, is the TV show worth watching?
Hot in Cleveland follows three women from Los Angeles who’ve supposedly passed their prime. They’re on their way to Paris to check another item off their “bucket list” when their plane has to land in Cleveland. They quickly learn to love the Midwestern city and take up residence, living in a house that’s got a sassy caretaker. The series stars Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick, and Betty White. Future guests include Wayne Knight, Shirley Knight, Huey Lewis, Hal Linden, Susan Lucci, Juliet Mills, Carl Reiner, and Amy Yasbeck.
Executive produced by Sean Hayes (Will & Grace), Todd Milliner, and Suzanne Martin, Hot in Cleveland debuted on June 16th. The first episode attracted 4.75 million viewers with a 1.9 rating in the 25-54 demographic.
While those numbers aren’t great for a regular network, they make Hot in Cleveland the most-watched and highest-rated broadcast in TV Land’s history.
The sitcom got mixed reviews so the big question is, “How many viewers will keep tuning in week after week?” The ratings for new shows typically drop off 10-20% in the second week but even if that many viewers don’t return, TV Land will still likely be very happy with the show’s ratings. There are nine episodes left in season one. Even if the ratings take a big nosedive, they’ll all surely air.
What do you think? Does Hot in Cleveland live up to your expectations? Will you keep watching or should the series be cancelled already?

keep hot in cleveland on
It’s a keeper ! Glad Bertinelli is back. Betty White is still her great self and the
other girls are great also. Don’t cancel ….this sitcom is refreshing. Rates way
above the reality shows that have flooded the air waves. The “blind date” episode was
funny.
Tv Land stop promoting this show, it’s overkill. Not matter what show you watch on Tv Land you see the promos pop up. During the commercials even more promos appear. Enough already!!!
This show is a definate keeper! This show has an old sense of comedy in it with modern day items. There has not been a good traditional sitcom like this since Reba!
I like it. Its already better than 90% of the junk on network TV. I love the 4 actresses, they all complement each other perfectly. Its especially great seeing Valerie Bertinelli back. She seems to have a real flair for deadpan humor, but I think being with the more seasoned pros has rubbed off on her.
Keep it! Love Betty ! She is still as quick on the punch lines as ever. Her and Carl Reiner make a great team. Make more shows like this.. With all prolems people have today, a good comedy sitcom is just what the doctor ordered. I will keep watching.
It’s nice that FINALLY someone has made a show for those of us who don’t like reality shows or over the top drama. The humor is keen, just enough T&A, especially from Valerie, to make the rest of us 40 somethings envious. My husband was warm to her form in the ’70’s, still drools over her even now. Betty White is STILL in fine form, even in her mid 80’s. To get rid of this show would just prove that the powers that be in programming don’t care about the older demographic.
me and my mom always watch this show WE CANT STOP LAUGHING LOL we have our mother and son moments same as when we watch golden girls together SO PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL
KEEP IT!! im the only 15 year old male that i know watches golden girls and hot in cleveland and i love betty white she is so funny but her character is way different than what she was on golden girls i thought that she would be like rose nylund like she was on golden girls the saint olaf stories and the ditzier version of her but this character elka i like her she has spunk just like a sophia petrilo and all the other acters are great every wednesday i cant wait to watch it but it also makes… Read more »
I wasn’t sure after the first episode but decided to keep watching. I think it’s a cute show. Not many of these, so called, comedies make me laugh but this one definitely brings out the giggles. I think it’s a keeper.
Simply love the show. It brings back some of the older style sitcom humor without the yelling and screaming you see in modern day sitcoms. That’s badly missed these days and is a breath of fresh air.
It’s amusing but not quite as funny as I’d hoped. Seems rather far-fetched in some ways and although I am a Betty White fan, I just don’t care for her Elka character. Not sure why. I don’t know whether or not it will keep my interest in the long run.
Keep the show. Also, keep Betty White she is truly golden.
This is my new favorite show. My husband and I look forward to it every week. They are the perfect cast Everyone is so funny.
It’s one of the best shows I’ve seen in years. I love it. This past week was so hilarous , the one with the blind dates, I watched it twice and may watch it again!
