This ain’t no lie. Showtime has cancelled House of Lies after five seasons, Deadline reports.
The comedy stars Kristen Bell, Don Cheadle, Ben Schwartz, and Josh Lawson as high-powered management consultants. Season five premiered last month.
Though ratings were never particularly strong for House of Lies, season five has continued dropped over the course of its first six episodes. So far, the season is receiving an average of .16 in the 18-49 demo and 354,000 viewers. For comparison, season four averaged a .25 rating in the 18-49 demo and a total of 584,000 viewers.
From Showtime CEO David Nevins:
House of Lies [is] a comedy that has frequently been ahead of the curve. Over the course of its five seasons, it has tackled such hot-button topics as gender identity, wealth inequality, white privilege, police brutality, interracial relationships, and code-switching with honesty and a biting sense of humor. Matthew Carnahan and Don Cheadle have been dream partners and impeccable leaders. The core cast of Don, Kristen, Ben and Josh are one of the best comedy teams on television. They have brought the series to an incredibly satisfying conclusion with this historic final episode shot in Cuba.”
The series finale of House of Lies will air on June 12th.
What do you think? Do you watch House of Lies? Are you sad it’s ending?
Absolutely LOVE this show!! From the first episode I was hooked and it just kept getting better & better. Beyond gutted they cancelled it…have no idea how it got such low ratings ;(
I sincerely hope Showtime will consider bringing it back for a season’s trial run!
I LOVE this show! I’m so bummed it’s cancelled. Kristen Bell and Don Cheadle have amazing chemistry with each other and with Ben Schwartz and Josh Lawson. Maybe Netflix could pick it up??
That is a darn shame as I enjoyed the ego of Marty 🙁
