They’ve really pulled out all the stops for the season finale of FOX’s Human Target. Of course, they have to since there’s no guarantee that the series will be back next season. But, even if you haven’t watched the series before, hearing that the Six Million Dollar Man himself, Lee Majors, will be a guest star, should have action fans tuning in to take a look.
Human Target premiered in January and stars Mark Valley as Christopher Chance. He’s a bodyguard of sorts, but instead of just throwing his body in front of his clients, he completely integrates himself into their lives, to become the target of whoever wants his clients dead. Winston and Guerrero (Chi McBride and Jackie Earle Haley) are his business associate and hired gun.
A few weeks ago on Human Target we were given a glimpse into Chance’s mysterious past and we discovered how he started working with Winston and Guerrero. Lennie James played his former partner, Baptiste, who is considered “the best assassin out there.” Valley admits, “I think he kicked my ass to be honest with you… I feel like the audience is rooting for Chance to kick his ass next time.”

Next time? Yep, Baptiste is back, and Chance is going to get some help from Lee Majors, who plays his former mentor. The casting turned out to be a dream come true for Valley. He’s a big fan of Majors and said of working with the former star of The Six Million Dollar Man, “The little boy in me was tearing around the house, screaming at the top of his lungs… Inside I was like [mouth opened wide], Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God!” Majors could see that Valley was moved and got a chuckle out of it.
Valley wasn’t the only one with admiration for Majors. The more eloquent McBride, who worked with him previously on The Brothers Solomon, admires the veteran actor for his long history in the business, and said, “You get to hear him talk about television, and he’s been around for a long time, you know, from Big Valley to Six Million Dollar Man, and you’ve got so much stuff in between.”
McBride also admires Majors for having been married to Farrah Fawcett, along with his work acumen. “The guy was actually standing in for himself between setups and stuff like that… I wish more younger people especially would get an opportunity to work with people like that.”
As devoted fans know, Human Target has not been renewed for next season and it appears the network is still on the fence. The ratings have been okay for this season; not bad and not great. Considering the fact that FOX has cancelled 24, it seems likely that the network will take a chance (no pun intended) and bring it back next season. We’ll know for sure by mid-May.
What do you think? Should Human Target come back for a second season? If so, would you like to see Majors again?

Glad to see so many positive responses to bringing back Human Target. I still think they need to get a little more detail in the planning and development of the operations. There are too many unexplained “how did that happen?” moments. Also how do you walk through the woods etc for a few days and not need a shave? I guess I am a stickler for realism because of my experience as a SEAL.
PLEASE!! Bring Target back! Me and my wife watch it regularly every week. Great chemistry between the stars. We love it.
I hope Fox renews HUMAN TARGET. Mark Valley is great in the lead. Come on Fox!
Absolutely, bring it back. Got into it late but love it. I am beginning to wonder who makes the decision to cancel some of these shows. The way they do TV shows is very frustrating – they give you 4-5 shows then reruns then maybe another 2-3 shows then reruns. No wonder people lose their zest for some of these shows, the execs need to rethink how they present them to the viewing public. Give us full seasons before they they take their break for the year.
so what if it isnt original! its epic and should not be canceled. it is my form of entertainment after work.
ABSOLUTELY bring Human Target back!! This show mixes the best of everything, and it’s one of the few that I will faithfully look forward to week after week. The character building has been perfectly blended with humor, guts, loyalty and action. Fox has a winner here, and there are a whole lot of viewers that will be watching for the decision to bring the show back again in the fall.
Human Target should absolutely, without question, be renewed. This is one of the best new shows on television and FOX needs something to fill the loss of such shows like Prison Break and 24. This is a fantastic series. The humor, the action, and a great cast makes this show a must see every week.
KEEP HUMAN TARGET! It’s a good show, Don’t do what HBO did to DEADWOOD!
Great to hear that it’s going to have a second season – hopefully more and I was extremely grateful to see Lee Majors back on public TV again. He’s one of my childhood heroes and hopefully they can have him back for more flashbacks.
Human Target should come back for another season. The show will have to step up its game though. Some of the fight scenes last to long and the plots are a little light on character development and the development of the missions.
A lot of shows are beeing canceld after one or two seasons. Bud looking to the past most of especially the action shows grow to a succes after two or three seasons. The best examples can be found in the Star Trek series. Sadly now the networks are not willing to let a serie grow to a succes. it needs to be a succes starting at episode one. Beside that they will only look if the show is succesful in America unlike the BBC who also look to the ratings abroard. for example there allready was a lot of interest… Read more »
Human Target is the best show of the season.KEEP IT!!
Fox should have the sense of mind to brink HT back since 24 is out the door. It’s a great action show, laced with humor. 24 has been one of the best when it comes to all out thrills, and from the other crime drama shows out there, that is what is lacked the most. Of course bring Lee Majors back! He can fill in alot of blanks in the whole Chris Chance mystic.
Human target needs to stay on the air. Though the genre may be unoriginal, it’s characters are rich and there is an incredible story left to unfold, people for chance to save, and butts for him to whoop.
With24 gone,we need another great action show. C’mon Fox, you kept That 70’s show on like 3 more years then it should have. Take a chance on Chance and company. Human Target is one of the best shows on T.V.
