Ray Drecker may be very popular with the ladies but HBO doesn’t want a fourth season of his TV series. The pay-for-view channel has cancelled Hung after 30 episodes and three seasons on the air.
Hung stars Thomas Jane as a struggling Detroit high school baseball coach and divorced father. He resorts to male prostitution to take advantage of his natural “endowments.” The show’s cast includes Jane Adams, Anne Heche, Eddie Jemison, Rebecca Creskoff, Gregg Henry, Charlie Saxton, and Sianoa Smit-McPhee.
This past season, Hung averaged a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.02 million viewers. That’s way down from last season (1.3 in the demo with 2.46 million), which had declined from the 2009 numbers.
The defacto series finale of Hung aired on December 4th and attracted just a 0.4 rating and 930,000 viewers.
HBO has also cancelled Bored to Death and How to Make It in America but has chosen to renew Enlightened, the newest and lowest-rated of the four.

Just found this show on HBO GO. My wife and I have really enjoyed watching this program. This is one of the best one on HBO GO. The acting and writing on this program is very good and entertaining. Big mistake in cancelling this program. You had a winner and did not know it.
I’ve just watched all 3 seasons! And I can not believe there is not going to be a seasons 4! It is such a great show, great actors, it cant just end like That! What is going on HBO!!!!!!, sort your heads out and get this show back on screens!!!
I discovered this series on Amazon Prime and watched all three seasons within 4 days. I loved the Detroit setting because it was a perfect pair for this show’s plot. I live in the northern part of MI so I can relate to the setting perfectly. I am quite bummed that they quit after season 3 because this series deserved one more in my opinion to tie the loose ends. Hats off to the producers and everyone that played a role in the series. You guys and gals all deserve it!
Just finished the 3 seasons of Hung just to find out there are no more!! How disappointing, I enjoyed the show and now there’s no ending.
I thought it kept my attention and the acting was good.
Came across the first episode on HBO replay on television just recently and got entirely hooked. Fantastic actors and intriguing storyline–family, love, and lust–can never have enough of it! Searched for news about season four and found this depressing article……. Very dissappointed that the episode is discontinued with no ending! Please film more seasons!
Just found the show on Amazon Prime…watched all 3 seasons in 4 days. I can’t believe that is it. Was such a smart, witty, progressive show. This is the problem with TV shows on HBO etc… You don’t know they even exist sometimes until it’s too late.. Bring this show back!! Bring it back !! And when you do, make sure you do the appropriate advertising so we know it’s here!!! Don’t blame the show…blame the people in charge of advertising!!
I am in the exact same boat! I watched all 3 seasons in less than 4 days with Amazon Prime only to discover there wasn’t a 4th season. I love the Michigan background because I live here and it makes for the plot setting for the show perfectly. Not to mention the wittiness and charm to the show made me continue to watch it back to back to back! I am happy to know not only myself feels like HBO should consider making this a comeback show! My husband & I just watched all seasons of Hung & we loved it!! One of our favorite series!! These characters were so good & this is a happy show for everyone to watch. We are shocked that the decision was made to not have another season. Why?? What a mistake!!! People want to see more shows like this!! Please have another show with Tanya ,Ray & Lorraine as characters because all actors & actresses were so good but the top 3 I just mentioned were awesome!! Tanya was fantastic!!! Sucks I just found out about the show in 2016 and absolutely love it. If I had known about ths show when it was airing I wouldnt have missed a single episode. I blame HBO for poor advertising on the numbers. Just binge watched all 3 seasons in 2 days and was totally bummed when I realized its not a current show but an old canceled one.
Why!! You can’t just leave us hanging. Bring back Hung!

Loved this show – funny, refreshing, heart warming, empowering. wish they would have given it more of a chance – Had some top notch talent.
