Josh Holloway enjoyed a long run on Lost but unfortunately he hasn’t been as lucky with Intelligence. The CBS TV show has now been cancelled after one season of 13 episodes.
On Intelligence, Gabriel Vaughn (Holloway) is a high-tech intelligence operative who’s been enhanced with a super-computer microchip in his brain. It allows him to be connected directly into the global information grid. Other castmembers include Marg Helgenberger, Meghan Ory, Michael Rady, John Billingsley, P. J. Byrne, Tomas Arana, Lance Reddick, and Peter Coyote.
After the failure of Hostages, the network was hoping for Intelligence to be a ratings hit to fill their Mondays at 10pm timeslot. It wasn’t to be. Despite some impressive star talent and special effects, the show couldn’t draw enough viewers.
The network debuted it after NCIS on a Tuesday night and the show drew decent numbers but, once it moved to its regular Monday night slot, the ratings tanked. The season of 13 episodes averaged a 1.3 demo rating with 6.85 million viewer, making it one of the lowest-rated shows on the network.
That wasn’t good enough to mandate a second season renewal so Intelligence has been cancelled. The final episode aired on March 31st.
What do you think? Did you like this Josh Holloway series? Should it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season? Why do you think it didn’t catch on?
I loved the show! I enjoyed watching the show every week. This is typical of the networks. They only cater to the young. The show should never have been canceled. I’m tired of these reality shows taken over the timeslots. This just ticks me off.
love the show I hope they don’t cancel
Great show,
I still do not believe that CBS put down this great show .. every week was a great way to see a new plot with great actors and efects …
I hope CBS turn back this decision due the answer of audience.
Loved the show. Never missed it. Very creative. Great acting. Excellent writing. Please reconsider. I’m bummed.
Loved the show…wring time slot. It was up against The Black List on NBC. We don’t need another NCIS or CSI. Renew Intelligence. Better than a lot shows that are on now. Here is another suggestion move it to your summer line up. Would rather see a new show than re-runs
Intelligence had a great plot line and i wish they didn’t cancel it. As i have seen before, the ratings may have been low because people had the show on the DVR so they didn’t have to watch the commercials, like me. I love Intelligence and would really appreciate if you would reconsider.
Loved this show. I looked forward to watching this show every week
I can’t believe you would cancel Intelligence and keep shows on the air like the Millers and the show Mom which I cannot stand to watch. This was one of the few shows that made you think. Maybe the rating were down due to people like me who would DVR the show to skip the commercials!
Intelligence is an excellent series. Good storylines and actors. Should have had at least a full series. Sorry it is being cancelled!
The Foureyed Poet.
It should have been cancelled!
Just curious – anonymous – why do you think it should have been cancelled? I loved the show and just was wondering what you didn’t like about it?
networks seem to cancel “intelligent” programs, programs that make you think and get involved with the plot and the characters for really dumb meaningless programs like
reality shows and the kardasians. what kind of message is this giving our children. what are our children learning from reality shows; nothing! remember “andy of mayberry”
easy to watch and always had a lesion to teach.
Terrible idea I loved this show tremendously
I am very disappointed that this series was not renewed. My entire family, kids and grandmother looked forward to viewing this series. It is a shame when we so easily drop good family shows for television such as “Mistresses” or “Hannibal”. Bring this show back it was just getting good.
I cannot believe you would cancel Intelligence but keep the Millers. The Millers has to be one of the most irritating shows on television. I do not understand these decisions. I will definitely have to rethink what channels I will be watching this season.
No it definitely should NOT be cancelled especially while you keep the Millers and Mom. Why can there be an intelligent program with good serious actors on the air. All we have is sitcoms and reality shows. Do you think all of the audiences have only a 30 minute attention span. It might be different if the dialogue wasn’t so inane and our parents weren’t continually bashed, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Please do not cancel Intelligence.
What a disappointment! There are so many trite, unremarkable, and insulting (to the “intelligence” of the viewers) programs today that television has become a virtual wasteland of artistic endeavor. Okay, so Intelligence isn’t Shakespeare (but it sn’t supposed to be. it was a solidly written procedural with a nice little “techie” twist, peopled with recognizable and talented actors, and proved that Josh Holloway is not just another “pretty face”; the man’s got some real acting chops! Certainly I believe that the powers that be need to give this series another sincere, objective look and keep it on the air. That’s… Read more »
