Josh Holloway enjoyed a long run on Lost but unfortunately he hasn’t been as lucky with Intelligence. The CBS TV show has now been cancelled after one season of 13 episodes.
On Intelligence, Gabriel Vaughn (Holloway) is a high-tech intelligence operative who’s been enhanced with a super-computer microchip in his brain. It allows him to be connected directly into the global information grid. Other castmembers include Marg Helgenberger, Meghan Ory, Michael Rady, John Billingsley, P. J. Byrne, Tomas Arana, Lance Reddick, and Peter Coyote.
After the failure of Hostages, the network was hoping for Intelligence to be a ratings hit to fill their Mondays at 10pm timeslot. It wasn’t to be. Despite some impressive star talent and special effects, the show couldn’t draw enough viewers.
The network debuted it after NCIS on a Tuesday night and the show drew decent numbers but, once it moved to its regular Monday night slot, the ratings tanked. The season of 13 episodes averaged a 1.3 demo rating with 6.85 million viewer, making it one of the lowest-rated shows on the network.
That wasn’t good enough to mandate a second season renewal so Intelligence has been cancelled. The final episode aired on March 31st.
What do you think? Did you like this Josh Holloway series? Should it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season? Why do you think it didn’t catch on?
This is ridiculous because the show was great and not given a fair chance by putting it up against Monday night football. The show should be allowed to air on another day for a second season. It was just starting to gain popularity, I told several people about it that was not aware because of cable tv. Then they started watching and liked it. When I think about all the stupid shows that are kept on the air and the good ones get tossed. Viewers will be hesitant to trust starting to get involved in any new shows in the… Read more »
I am very disappointed that the series Intelligence was cancelled. It was one of the very few shows my family like. Please reconsider and bring the series back. Everyone who watched it was hooked. More promotion may helped to get more ratings.
Its sad they cx intelligence. why not move it to thurs friday or sunday since they saw it work on tues originally. maybe other networks would do better picking up cbs left overs to boost their own ratings
I really enjoyed this show… I mean it had its short comings, but the CG was great and the story had a lot of different ways that it could have gone. I thought the cast was good too.
Intelligence was the only TV series my husband and I watched each week, and we even got a DVR to record it. The cancellation of the series is a disappointment, as now our TV will only serve as a way to watch DVDs. With so much garbage on, why can CBS/the networks not have ONE series per week that is intriguing and intelligent (pun intended!) for the millions of people that would like to watch something worthwhile?
I believe this show had great potential, had they explored more the individual character’s pasts and motives, so we could connect more with the main characters. There were moments where I thought this was going to happen, but it would end with a quickly resolved crisis, an action scene, and I hoped the next episode would bring more drama, less predictable action scenes, more character development. I believe they may have done so by season two, disappointed I never got to see this come to pass. Good luck to all the actors in this show who did an amazing job.… Read more »
Why did you cancel Intelligence????? Every time I get interested in a good show, it get cancelled…!!! Josh and Marg were doing great acting jobs and Josh is one good looking man…! Don’t you think you should have polled the fans before canceling such a refreshing show??? CBS doesn’t have that many good shows that they can just can this one..!! Whose idea was it to cancel? I’m going to ask my Facebook friends to bombard him/her with phone calls and letters…! If that fails to get a rise out of CBS snobs, maybe another station will pick the show… Read more »
Because they placed it competition with another thriller — the Blacklist. A great show vs. a good show. I would watch blacklist with my wife and DVR Intelligence and which it alone.
Shame! What a shame! In Italy a lot of people see Intelligence and we wait for other seasons. What s happened? Maybe the US Government don t like Intelligence cause is not far to real situation ???? And then??? CBS must be more brave and continue the show!
It got terrible viewing because ot wasn’t promoted enough. Loved this show BRING IT BACK
This is unbelievable the show has been cancelled. We loved this show and keep hoping it will come back. Give it another chance. Please!
We are disappointed in the cancellation of this show. The cast was great. Last episode reveals Peter Coyote as a villain. Too bad network didn’t give it another chance.
I am really sad! This was with no doubts the BEST show of the year!! CBS reconsider the idea!!
My husband and I loved this show. I was a devoted Castle watcher, but got hooked on this and switched from watching Castle on Monday to watching intelligence. The one show that my husband and I would both look forward to watching together. I think it is worth giving it another shot on another night!
This was a second _Person of Interest_ as far s *I* am concerned; I watched the show religiously as I do many others…where it is in real time or DVR’d. IT IS A SIN CBS is cancelling this great piece of television work! Same with _A Gifted Man_…Unlike HOSTAGES which ran its course AND was resolved. WHY oh WHY did they make _Under the Dome_ …easily a 1 season ‘wonder’ drag on so? I can’t see MORE than 2 seasons to wrap it all up! ALL these networks are guilty of the same thing…opining about it would do little; however… Read more »
