Josh Holloway enjoyed a long run on Lost but unfortunately he hasn’t been as lucky with Intelligence. The CBS TV show has now been cancelled after one season of 13 episodes.
On Intelligence, Gabriel Vaughn (Holloway) is a high-tech intelligence operative who’s been enhanced with a super-computer microchip in his brain. It allows him to be connected directly into the global information grid. Other castmembers include Marg Helgenberger, Meghan Ory, Michael Rady, John Billingsley, P. J. Byrne, Tomas Arana, Lance Reddick, and Peter Coyote.
After the failure of Hostages, the network was hoping for Intelligence to be a ratings hit to fill their Mondays at 10pm timeslot. It wasn’t to be. Despite some impressive star talent and special effects, the show couldn’t draw enough viewers.
The network debuted it after NCIS on a Tuesday night and the show drew decent numbers but, once it moved to its regular Monday night slot, the ratings tanked. The season of 13 episodes averaged a 1.3 demo rating with 6.85 million viewer, making it one of the lowest-rated shows on the network.
That wasn’t good enough to mandate a second season renewal so Intelligence has been cancelled. The final episode aired on March 31st.
What do you think? Did you like this Josh Holloway series? Should it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season? Why do you think it didn’t catch on?
I really enjoyed the show’s core concept of mind-‘net link. I think more could have been made of the feasibility of that link happening to give credibility to the show and pull in the fans of sci-fi. The show was in a unique position to address the pros and cons of hi tech integration into society and the humans becoming too machine-like and machines too human. The show should have had at least one more season to work out the bugs. Unless its fans can pull a Star Trek and make this phoenix rise, I will miss the interesting cast… Read more »
Typical of American networks and axing series without giving them a fair go. So the view count (duno how they even get these numbers) fell when moved to a new time slot… why not just move it back to the good slot instead of shrugging shoulders and going “oh well its cancelled.” They don’t even take into account the international viewer count that would also like to see it continued. So many times I get into a series and then discover its not coming back coz of some low view count, yet that’s only from American viewers… why not think… Read more »
Man i loved this programme the story was well structured and the action was awesome. And you could connect with the characters they really need to make a season 2
Oh my god, I loved season 1. Just finished watching it on amazon prime, now ive just found out there is no season 2. Im well annoyed!
Excellent show should not have been cancelled.
Intelligence was/is An excellent show
I thought it was excellent – the first episode was ropey but it got better as the series went on- I can’t believe there is no series 2!! What a shame!
typical network myopathy. What Ed Jones said above
This movie is very awesome. I just dont understand why decent movies are been canceled like Atlantis. I love this movif and it was canceled. Before a movie can be canceled the viewers’ opinion should be made clear. I think Intelligence should be brought back
THAT WAS A BULL **** IDEA.CANCEL INTELLIGENCE . IT WAS AN AWESOME SHOW
bring back intelligence. it was much better than other programs that are still aired.
I loved it. Want it to return
They cancelled Intelligence and came up with Limitless. Really? I will NOT BE WATCHING THIS!
I thought intelligence was a great program. I did not miss an episode of it. If I could not watch it Monday night, I recorded it on my DVR so I could watch it later. I beg you to please bring it back. One of the best crime series I have ever watched
I just found out about this show and it’s cancelled. They couldn’t have promoted it enough. I would have watched this in a heartbeat.
