Josh Holloway enjoyed a long run on Lost but unfortunately he hasn’t been as lucky with Intelligence. The CBS TV show has now been cancelled after one season of 13 episodes.
On Intelligence, Gabriel Vaughn (Holloway) is a high-tech intelligence operative who’s been enhanced with a super-computer microchip in his brain. It allows him to be connected directly into the global information grid. Other castmembers include Marg Helgenberger, Meghan Ory, Michael Rady, John Billingsley, P. J. Byrne, Tomas Arana, Lance Reddick, and Peter Coyote.
After the failure of Hostages, the network was hoping for Intelligence to be a ratings hit to fill their Mondays at 10pm timeslot. It wasn’t to be. Despite some impressive star talent and special effects, the show couldn’t draw enough viewers.
The network debuted it after NCIS on a Tuesday night and the show drew decent numbers but, once it moved to its regular Monday night slot, the ratings tanked. The season of 13 episodes averaged a 1.3 demo rating with 6.85 million viewer, making it one of the lowest-rated shows on the network.
That wasn’t good enough to mandate a second season renewal so Intelligence has been cancelled. The final episode aired on March 31st.
What do you think? Did you like this Josh Holloway series? Should it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season? Why do you think it didn’t catch on?
This was a good show and great characters. I think the time slot was a big problem.
If this was in a prime spot it would have given some of the existing shows a run for its money. Hope they bring it back or another network picks this up.
Really a great show with terrific cast. It should have replaced NCIS-LA or any of the “comedies” on Monday. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy “Hettie” in NCIS-LA and continue to watch it but I hate to see the demise of “Intelligence”. It needed to start in September and earlier on a day after drama and not comedy.
The concept was different, the chemistry between Josh and Megan was hot, the Nelson character was so funny, the Lillian character was a strong woman leading in a man’s world, the Riley character was a strong woman who could kick butt with any man, Gabriel’s mom (oh, I so needed more of her) was yet another strong women…….3 strong women on one show, given CBS’ record as of late, maybe that’s were this show went wrong. Anyway, this show had soooo much potential, but wasn’t even given a chance. It didn’t start until January, when the bulk of all the… Read more »
This is exactly why my husband and I have decided NOT to get invested in any TV shows anymore. Intelligence was the one we chose to watch this year and we LOVED it. PLEASE bring it back….love the entire cast and the story’s were just awesome!! WHY, why, why?
It was a great show. It was up against The Blacklist, which had a half-season head start to attract the same audience. I downloaded both and had to watch both that night. Let’s hope CBS sees the light. There were solid stories, good dialogue, excellent story and plot progression and superb acting. Few shows come along that so fit the headlines of the day (24 and The Blacklist and the only other two I can think of). I saw the ratings and feared this, but they should have given it at least until Christmas. I hope the producers can shop… Read more »
Why did you have to cancel it?!?! You could just continue it on dvd or something! Please consider renewing it for a second season! I am 14 and it was probably the best tv show i have ever seen in my life! Me and my mom loved it and you had to cancel it when it was at such a climatic part! Please renew it somehow! Please?
Bring it back!!! PLEASE 🙂
This was a great show, I wonder why they have cancelled it. It works in Italy
I loved the show intelligence. It seems that many people are saying the same thing. What do we have to do to get the network to give it another shot? It sucks that shows get cancelled when so many people like them.
They should have given it a second chance,it was just picking up momentum
My family, husband, mother, grand-daughter, daughter and myself loved the entire cast. Great shows always action packed. What a shame, it was a quality, enjoyable show. Loved it!
I loved the show. It’s unfortunate that it got cancelled. Now I don’t know what to watch on Mondays!
It was a very catchy show, I loved it and was very surprise to learned it was cancelled!
Why it didn’t work, not enough publicity I guess, I use my PVR to record and watch later maybe thyat affect your counts?
I loved the show and I am very upset that it has been canceled. You keep Two and Half Men with all it’s filth, but canceled a decent show like intelligence.
This was one of the best shows on TV. It had a great story line, good character actors, and was head and shoulders above most everything else. TV is getting so bland it isn’t worth watching anymore.
