Josh Holloway enjoyed a long run on Lost but unfortunately he hasn’t been as lucky with Intelligence. The CBS TV show has now been cancelled after one season of 13 episodes.
On Intelligence, Gabriel Vaughn (Holloway) is a high-tech intelligence operative who’s been enhanced with a super-computer microchip in his brain. It allows him to be connected directly into the global information grid. Other castmembers include Marg Helgenberger, Meghan Ory, Michael Rady, John Billingsley, P. J. Byrne, Tomas Arana, Lance Reddick, and Peter Coyote.
After the failure of Hostages, the network was hoping for Intelligence to be a ratings hit to fill their Mondays at 10pm timeslot. It wasn’t to be. Despite some impressive star talent and special effects, the show couldn’t draw enough viewers.
The network debuted it after NCIS on a Tuesday night and the show drew decent numbers but, once it moved to its regular Monday night slot, the ratings tanked. The season of 13 episodes averaged a 1.3 demo rating with 6.85 million viewer, making it one of the lowest-rated shows on the network.
That wasn’t good enough to mandate a second season renewal so Intelligence has been cancelled. The final episode aired on March 31st.
What do you think? Did you like this Josh Holloway series? Should it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season? Why do you think it didn’t catch on?
Why oh why was this show cancelled? We absolutely loved watching this show (in NZ), and looked forward to it every week! For me, it was one of the few cool shows on telly that allowed me to just forget about studying…. and just be absorbed in the moment…without having to think about deadlines! Boooo….. bad form!!!
Great show for the back a strong show that has strong women.
DO NOT CANCEL this series I look forward to it every week. Cancel other crapy programs.
@Krista The decision to run school closing and weather notices on the screen while your show was on is not the fault of CBS. In my viewing area of East TN they often will scroll sever storm warnings and school closings at the bottom of the screen It’s a local affiliate/news decision and on top of that the station has to fulfill it’s role as a community resource in regards to important local news. news that will impact the viewing area. In this case breaking weather developments and school closings having an effect on the local community need to be… Read more »
So disappointed and frustrated with CBS in general. Being a Mentalist fan, and having to deal with the hassles of them always starting it sometimes 15 – 45 minutes late; school closing and weather notices that took up large portions of the screen while a NEW episode was playing; previews that were more ‘joke-y’ and even hokey looking (for many different dramatic shows); and then they take this really great show with a fantastic cast, and put it in a horrid time slot, with barely any advertising… and then trashcan it after 13 episodes. What a disaster, CBS! I don’t… Read more »
I think the show had a lot of potential – a real strong concept, but it was really poorly executed with bad writing, crappy dialogues. I think a show with good potential was lost here. But it wasn’t surprising.
This show was great! CANCELLED, honestly?! CBS you are so confusing. This show had hands down one of THE best special effects for any TV Series out there! They put it on a Monday night, and they’re shocked it didn’t pull numbers? Put it back on or put it no NETFLIX and see if it won’t blow up. I’m sure if House of Cards was on a network it would’ve been cancelled before first season even started!
I loved Intelligence. It’s 200% better than all those reality shows that keep coming back!
I wished they would of given it a longer run to build up it’s audience.
Tried this show, not surprised it tanked. Concept too reminiscent for me of the truly great show Chuck. Hoped it would come up to that standard of entertainment, sadly it failed in my opinion. Anyone of the fans here who are disappointed that Intelligence got canceled, try the 5 season Chuck on Netflix.
Very disappointed that this show was cancelled. I thought Josh was great, the other cast members were good as well. I felt the show had potential and wasn’t given enough time to grab and audience. Honestly the first few shows grabbed me the then the writing was a little blah. The group of actors were great just felt the material was kind boring. They should have tweaked the story and give them another shot for sure. 🙁 I would so rather see more shows like this than other season of “The Bachelor” blah
I was very sorry to find out the show was cancelled. my husband and I looked forward to seeing it every week. the actors were excellent, the scripts were innovative , timely, and very interesting. please bring it back.
This show was junk. Josh Holloway was completely miscast. The writing was bad with very poor dialogue and deserved to be cancelled.
Very original. Loved this show! It boggles my mind that CBS keeps crap like Survivor & Two and a Half Men and cancels a great show like Intelligence! Keep the show, change the day! I hope at least another networks sees the light and picks it up.
I was so disappointed when I found out that “Intelligence” was cancelled for a second season. I considered that show one of the most “intelligent” series out there. With the networks bombarded with so called “reality” shows, which by the way, there’s nothing “real” about them. I won’t say they are all scripted, but vast majority of them are. I loved watching the ensemble of Intelligence working together. They fit their parts so well. The writing was excellent and I looked forward to every episode! ! Josh Holloway was so convincing in his part. Besides being extremely good looking and… Read more »
