TV show description:
On this police drama, no one’s tougher than NYPD Detective Robert Ironside (Blair Underwood). A brilliant, tough-as-nails detective who lives and plays by his own rules, Ironside is fearless and his instincts are second to none. When his spine was shattered by a bullet two years ago, he swore he’d never let a wheelchair slow him down.
Ironside and his trusted, handpicked team of detectives each offer a unique background, perspective and skill set. That seems only natural since those around him have to stay on their toes if they want to keep up.
Virgil (Pablo Schreiber) is a man who wrestles with the dichotomy of being one of NYPD’s toughest cops in the city, while also being a loving family man. At home, he teaches life lessons to his children but he doesn’t exactly follow those same guidelines in the line of duty.
Holly (Spencer Grammer) is a strong and feisty detective who loves the rush of being undercover and the danger that goes with the job. She also has mysterious family ties to the Brooklyn underworld.
Meanwhile, Teddy (Neal Bledsoe) is a rich, highly-educated young cop who has never been good with authority. He’s connected in a way that only those born who’ve been into wealth enjoy or understand.
Their boss is Captain Ed Rollins (Kenneth Choi). A calm and pragmatic man, he handles situations with a level head and cool demeanor. He and Ironside share a mutual respect and admiration for one another — despite their push-pull relationship.
Gary Stanton (Brent Sexton) is Ironside’s scrappy ex-partner and a hard-nosed detective. He marvels at Ironside’s will and ability to piece together his life after being shot.
Together, this dedicated and capable group does whatever it takes to solve New York’s most difficult and notorious crimes. They won’t let anything stop them in their pursuit of justice.
Episode #9 — Hidden Agenda
A car bombing leaves two people dead and the FBI singles out a problematic Columbia student as the suspect. However, Ironside’s suspicions fall elsewhere and a deadly game of cat and mouse lands himself and the team at risk when the bomber strikes again.
First aired: N/A (released on iTunes on April 8, 2014).
What do you think? Do you like the new Ironside TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled?
I watch the first one with Raymond Burr in 1967 I enjoyed that one and the new one is also good I wished they would reconsider,
Was a good show. I really wish it comes back on.
I liked where the show was headed. A no nonsense cop. It felt good to see the victims were thought of first & not the rights of the criminals.
Too bad, I kind of liked it. Maybe they shouldn’t have introduced this as remake of Ironside, but with some other totally new name.
some series do not translate to the present especially when you put a black actor in the spot of the white actor since theirs to many differences when everyone references the old show try the similar story but tailor it to the actor using possibly different name and city it could work with Blair but i kept expecting burr to show. i felt the same with will smith in wild wild west it did not work well but i really liked him in i robot and men in black trilogy and of coarse some old series just cannot be updated… Read more »
Everyone has an opinion and here’s mine. This show needed to be given a chance to grow past Blair’s ego. It was good, although Blair was focused on too much without incorporating the other players to be focused on. His hogging of the show was a turn off. It made him seem to egotistic as opposed to the original Ironside. I expected him to be more humble, although still in control. The original Ironside seem to appreciate more all the players’ he had to assist him. This Ironside didn’t feel that way to me. It was the only defect I… Read more »
Not surprised This show just didn’t “click” for me and and the loop de loop twirling of Ironside in the w/c just didn’t ring true and
Please think it over, about bringing back Ironside. It was well written very good cast and it also showed the millions young and old handicap people that a handicap doesn’t have to stop you. The world needs encouragement not more Zombies, or vampires or reality tv. Lets uplift each other. Think about this hard you know I’m right.
Best new show of 2013 ……..and NBC wonders why it continues to drop lower and lower in the ratings. Have some courage in your own choices scheduling fools!!!
I was really upset the show was cancelled! After much anticipation for the 1st episode, I made sure I watched the series weekly(3 shows) and then wondered why it wasn’t on anymore. I had JUST found out it was cancelled! Why? I loved hey cancelled a show before it had a chance to get off the ground! Please bring it was back! If NBC was the problem, there are other Networks! I used to watch the original series too!
Was sorry to see the show end. What are the actors doing now? I have not seen any one lately and they were too good to leave at the curb now…
I loved this show except for one problem. I was shocked to see “Pablo Schreiber” as a cop… right after his L&A SVU (too convincing) character. And the shows were back to back??? Too bad for “Blair Underwood”, he is awesome. Watching him maneuver & fight from wheelchair is amazing. Much better then the old IRONSIDE series… Maybe if it was on in a different time slot & (sorry) without Pablo Schreiber… It could be a Winner!
Sorry dear I was also very upset that this show was canceled and complained to NBC as soon as it was! But about Pablo ……….. they are actors and the better the actor…
OMG– WHY???? Its a GREAT show .. Why must all the great shows be cancelled..Maybe USA or TNT will pick it up..PLease rethink this.. I’ve so had enough of reality tv and cartoons …
That series was an original wonderful show that should not have been cancelled. Loved that show!
I can’t believe this series has been canceled. It was smart fresh and intellegent this should really be reconsidered!
