After three seasons, ABC Family’s Kyle XY TV show is coming to an end. Will viewers get answers to the ongoing storylines about the young man without a belly button?
Kyle XY centers around a young man (Matt Dallas) who wakes up in the middle of a Seattle forest — naked and without a memory. The police call in psychologist Nicole Trager (Marguerite MacIntyre) for assistance and she ends up bringing him home. Her husband Stephen (Bruce Thomas), daughter Lori (April Matson), and son Josh (Jean-Luc Bilodeau) almost immediately take to “Kyle” and make him feel like part of the family. He begins to show incredible intelligence and physical abilities that lead the Tragers to realize there’s far more to Kyle than meets the eye. Others in the series include Chris Olivero, Kirsten Prout, Jaimie Alexander, Nicholas Lea, Chelan Simmons, Magda Apanowicz, Martin Cummins, Leah Cairns, J. Eddie Peck, Teryl Rothery, Conrad Coates, Cory Monteith, Josh Zuckerman, Kurt Max Runte, and Malcolm Stewart.
The show premiered on June 26, 2006 on ABC Family and became an instant hit. It attracted 2.6 million viewers and became the cable network’s highest-rated show to date. The pilot was repeated on ABC and over 5.2 million people watched. The first season was made up of 10 episodes and the show was quickly renewed for a second year.
Kyle continued to enjoy very healthy ratings into the second season. They were so good that ABC Family ended up ordering 23 episodes, a longer season than most series on the major networks. In May 2007, ABC Family president Paul Lee proudly said, “Kyle XY is the highest-rated show ever on ABC Family; it is truly the show that has defined this network.”

Unfortunately, that sunny outlook didn’t continue for very long once the ratings started to fall in the latter part of season two. Kyle’s third season’s premiere episode attracted just 1.5 million viewers and other ABC Family shows outperformed it by a wide margin.
ABC Family has just announced the renewal of two shows — Greek and Lincoln Heights — as well as the cancellation of Kyle. No details were given for the cancellation but the decline in ratings, higher production costs, and castmember contracts coming up for renewal are all believed to be contributing factors.
The third season of Kyle kicked off on January 12th and is expected to conclude on March 16th. It seems likely that the network will continue to air all of the episodes on schedule.
Because the series finale was shot well before the cancellation news came down, it seems unlikely that all of the show’s ongoing storylines will be resolved when the last episode airs. Will fans get the answers they’re looking for or will they be left hanging forever?

Incredible!!! Why would you air a show & not finish it?? It’s very disappointing to get excited and enjoy a series to then not see the ending!! ABC, you should be ashamed!!
They should make a movie explaining the ending…I’d be happy!

WHAT!!!! Why in the world would this show get cancelled? I understand some of the others, but this one! Greek and Lincoln Heights are so normal and an every day show, we NEED this ABC. You left us just hanging! The least you could do is finish it out, you don’t have to drag it out, which would be great, but at least finish it!!!!!!!!
kyle xy needs a forth season
I can’t believe it was just left up to us to imagine what happened…Sometimes less viewers mean stronger fan base. Those watching it are the ones who take the time out of there schedule to watch it, but because some people either have no access or time to watch those who do get punished…including the actors who have worked hard to build that environment for us!

are u serious??? Greek amd Lincoln Heights are shows that shouldnt even have a purpose!!!! Kyle XY makes sense averagely and scientifically!….this makes no sense….kyle xy is too good of a series to let go to waste….why end it at a spot that leaves the fans confused and wondering…thats what kills ratings and loses milions of dollars, wasting the fans time by ending a good series that has a purpose…SCREW GREEK & LINCOLN HEIGHTS!!!!

Why the heck would this show get canceled, it’s one of the best shows that I’ve ever watched!!! I have to figure out what happens! Don’t leave us hanging! I finally found a good show (last month) and I find out that there’s no fourth season, that’s just great!!! 🙁
OK! so i’m very sad right now that i don’t know the ending so here is my version of the end: After discovering that Cassidy is Kyles brother he then calls Jessie who confirms that they are related but also that she is also related to him. It seems that Adam is the father of Jessie and Kyle, but Kyle’s mother is cassidy’s mother (confusing i know). After that Jessie goes crazy and vows she will get revenge for being lied to (mostly she is horrified Kyle is her brother) so she then goes to Good Morning America and shows… Read more »

Kyle XY was the one TV show that I looked forward to watching with my 14 year old daughter. What a disappointment!!!
ABC Family… We need to see the conclusion of Kyle XY… Does Kyle choose to be with Amanda (the girl who just happened to be at the right place at the right time)? Or does he realize that Jessie is his one true soul mate and continue to make the world a better place with the ying to his yang by his side? Is he really Chanlers brother? are you serious!!! bring it back. i Just found out about this show last week. Yes i rarely watch but rely on netflix lol. I just watch season 1-3 in the past week. Please give the show a propper ending, dont leave us hanging like this. i wanna know what happens!!!! We all do!! Bring it back or just send season 4 straight to dvd. heck ill buy it!!!
