TVGuide is reporting that NBC has unceremoniously cancelled Las Vegas after five seasons on the air.
Las Vegas debuted on September 22, 2003 and was touted as actor James Caan’s first series regular role on television. The Academy Award-nominated actor was cast as the Montecito casino’s Head of Security, ‘Big Ed’ Deline. Others in the cast have included Nikki Cox, Josh Duhamel, James Lesure, Vanessa Marcil, Molly Sims, and Marsha Thomason.
Caan left the series last year to return to his movie career and Cox was cut from the show in a cost-cutting move. Caan was replaced by Tom Selleck and it was hoped that the addition of the veteran TV actor would help revitalize the series. It didn’t and, coupled with the series’ move to Friday nights, the ratings dropped significantly.
Last year, Las Vegas was one of the earliest NBC shows to get a renewal notice. What a difference a year can make.
NBC has opted not to renew Las Vegas for season six. Unlike Friday Night Lights, Vegas apparently doesn’t warrant shopping to other possible outlets and fans of the series are left with a cliffhanger. The last two episodes aired last Friday and was first in the ratings for both hours, Unbeknownst to viewers at the time, it was likely the last time we’ll see the staff of the Montecito. Stay tuned!
Any of us angry fans out there that know how to build a web page should start one. We all need to boycott NBC over this garbage. Clearly the only thing they think about is their bottom line, so let’s hit them where it hurts, just like they did us! BOYCOTT NBC! It starts here, with us. Send emails to NBC corporate offices, to your friends, your ex, your Dr, vet, mom and dad, etc and tell them to send emails to everyone else as well as the network telling them WE DEMAND CLOSURE! We are tired of being the… Read more »
I truly thought Veags was original and thought provoking but to be left the way NBC did was not professional. Even Dallas brought back Bobby after they rethought firing him. The fans(which keep NBC sponcers) should be considered. James Davidson is right…an all-out boycott should be done to show the powers that be have to think of the fans before just pulling the plug. This goes right along with everything else in this world…the average pewrson has absolutly NO say so…none. As for the charactor of Cooper, we were really just getting to know him, but he was beginning to… Read more »
start up las vegas i love the show
i agree with everyone and there should be atleast a 1 – 2 hr finish up. i heard that there was a cameo of delinda and danny in the newer season of knight rider before it was cancelled > they were with there baby . but now im not sure if thats even true because i heard now that that was even a rumer. what happen to everyone. we all need to know PLEASE HELP US ALL and do an ending.
NBC had a brain freeze when they cancelled Las Vegas and with a To Be Continued…Leaving the fans thinking surely there is another hour show to wrap things up. I thought when a series was cancelled they atlease finished the season. Im pretty sure other networks give their fans SATISFACTION! And I thought Tom Selleck did an OK job replacing Caan.
We have been watching the Las Vegas series on TNT and I am totally upset that there was not final ending to such a fabulous show. Las Vegas writers, producers, staff, and actors there has to be a closing to this. Did they get married, what happened to the baby, did Cooper lose the hotel……..PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get us a finale to such a fantastic show. I even ordered Season 5 Disc 4 thinking I can get the finale that way what a disappointment.
COME ON ALREADY! THIS IS CRAZY! SOMEONE FROM NBC HAS TO BE READING THIS, GIVE US CLOSURE! WE DEMAND IT!
Hi there, please note any American company willing to help us devoted fans, PLEASE FINISH OFF LAS VEGAS. What a fantastic and wonderfull show, yes the final series was nothing compared to the first three with James Caan in the show but I was still captured by my friends watching the show till the last episode every week it aired. Even my new wife who I married couple of weeks ago has started to watch the show from the begining and she is loving it so much that we just bought all the DVD boxsets. What a great show.
I completely agree!! We need an ending to this show! This is completely garbage! I would love another season, but if nothing else at least a two hour episode wrapping everything up!! At this point ill take a one hour episode!!
Tighten up NBC!! We demand satisfaction!!!!! I personally have boycotted NBC, I will not watch them until I have an ending for “Las Vegas”, and I have many friends that I’ve convinced to do the same, and they have friends, too!
I believe Las Vegas was stuck out in the cold, because of the writers strike a few years back, Vegas was just a show that they assumed would be better swept under the rug, but there are fans. So come on NBC. U guys dropped southland and TNT picked it up, and you guys release some horrible shows, but really? Las Vegas has a devoted fan group even with re runs. So. Step it up
NBC, Please make one two-hour episode that wraps everything up for us…..clearly the show has fans!
I am so angry at such a lousy ending of Las Vegas. What happened did the writers walk out? Is there any creativity left? First the Sopranos but at least throughout there run they made mention of what they thought the end should be..”nothing” but in Las Vegas nothing.
What a disgrace to the actors for them to bear in there careers that the only thing fans will remember is there departure without a script. We all deserved more.
We need to get something going . I wish i knew some way to get a request in to get the show back on the air. I know it has been off the air for a while now but i think if they atleast gave us a propper ending. I think it would do good. if anything the city of las vegas should pay for it . They could look at it as advertiseing .maybe have the finally in a reall casino vegas does have a new one and they could play it as the one cooper was supposed to… Read more »
