TVGuide is reporting that NBC has unceremoniously cancelled Las Vegas after five seasons on the air.
Las Vegas debuted on September 22, 2003 and was touted as actor James Caan’s first series regular role on television. The Academy Award-nominated actor was cast as the Montecito casino’s Head of Security, ‘Big Ed’ Deline. Others in the cast have included Nikki Cox, Josh Duhamel, James Lesure, Vanessa Marcil, Molly Sims, and Marsha Thomason.
Caan left the series last year to return to his movie career and Cox was cut from the show in a cost-cutting move. Caan was replaced by Tom Selleck and it was hoped that the addition of the veteran TV actor would help revitalize the series. It didn’t and, coupled with the series’ move to Friday nights, the ratings dropped significantly.
Last year, Las Vegas was one of the earliest NBC shows to get a renewal notice. What a difference a year can make.
NBC has opted not to renew Las Vegas for season six. Unlike Friday Night Lights, Vegas apparently doesn’t warrant shopping to other possible outlets and fans of the series are left with a cliffhanger. The last two episodes aired last Friday and was first in the ratings for both hours, Unbeknownst to viewers at the time, it was likely the last time we’ll see the staff of the Montecito. Stay tuned!
How you let a show like Las Vegas go. You don’t have a clue. You moved the show around in different time slot and expect viewers to keep up with them. No wonder your network is last in the ratings. Bring back Las Vegas.
I’m from Holland and season 5 just got out last week and yesterday I already watched the final episode and this really sucks big time!! What a waist to let this serie come to an end in this way and NBC lets us, viewers, left with nothing but hard thinking to do. Is it so hard to make at least one or two (genuine) final episodes that viewers know who things will end. Maybe Delinda has had a miscarriage or something?? We want to know!! I know that every serie has its one share of fans and that they will… Read more »
dammit. I didn’t know they canceled it til now. I was just wondering when it would be coming back on and it won’t be. How gay. That show was awesome and one of the only shows I enjoy on NBC (I also enjoy The Office). I can’t tell you how pissed I am.
What the hell is wrong with you NBC? I just don’t get it. No more Las Vegas? Why would you cancel such a good show, and leave us all hanging? Also I just found out Lipstick Jungle is to be canceled as well… that show rocks. Next you wont be bringing back Friday night Lights… and that would be a disgrace. No wonder your network is going down the tubes. really too sad… your peacock is losing it’s colors fast.
man it is ridiculous! the show cannot end that way, its a shame NBC should think about its fans. NBS SUCKS. it is revolting!!!
Las Vegas was a great show with great characters. My husband and I enjoyed watching the show every night. Now we can not enjoy the show presently but we have no idea what happens in the end. From viewers that have now watched every show, we now do not know the conclusion. We become dedicated to a series and I feel NBC should become dedicated to their fans!!!
How can NBC run all the putrid shows that they do and cancel a show that is a sure classic! Its a senseless move on their part! Bring the show back and put it on a better night than friday- It doesn’t take a genius (or a Mike Canon) to know that the show dropped in ratings b/c of the day that NBC scheduled it on! Bring VAGAS BACK, its all you had goin for you NBC!
I can’t believe they cancelled this show. I loved it. I really enjoyed watching this show. Please bring it back.
I think it is really sorry that NBC cancelled Las Vegas like that. I loved the show and leaving it the way they did was poor decision making on their part. BRING IT BACK!!!!
NBC bits. Las vegas is a great show. I can’t beleive they cancelled this show!!!!! DO the right thing and bring it back NBC!!!!
I cannot believe [I’ll never watch this network again] nbc, they donot deserve caps, has cancelled Las Vegas. You cannot cancel a show after ending the previous season with a cliff hanger. I think nbc management needs to be cancelled. Las Vegas was by far the best show they had. At least we can watch reruns on TNT for a while. Shame on you nbc.
What the Hell is wrong with this network?? They cancel Las Vegas?? I was not happy when they canceled Crossing Jordan. So now they are also canceling My Own Worst Enemy. I don’t know if they are comparing everything to Law and Order or what. I agree NBC YOU SUCK!!
Just found out it was cancelled nbc really does suck…. lol reiterated here over and over again. Figured I should add my agreement with all the other posts here because I too really liked this show … didn’t realize it was cancelled due to the lame to be continued figured season finale meant they were planning another season. The networks should be able to make better decisions and at the very least give show producers some notice so they don’t butcher the creators and the actors and everyone who put effort into the shows network by leaving a show like… Read more »
OMG… WHAT a sucky way to end a show… can’t you at LEAST do one last “Happily Ever After” show, or SOMETHING?!?!?! NBC DOES suck!!
FYI… In searching for the answer to my last question, I have found out that yes, yet another great NBC show has been cancelled and after a long day at work, can’t come home and enjoy this one either!! I believe Traci put it best in typing, NBC…YOU SUCK!!
