TVGuide is reporting that NBC has unceremoniously cancelled Las Vegas after five seasons on the air.
Las Vegas debuted on September 22, 2003 and was touted as actor James Caan’s first series regular role on television. The Academy Award-nominated actor was cast as the Montecito casino’s Head of Security, ‘Big Ed’ Deline. Others in the cast have included Nikki Cox, Josh Duhamel, James Lesure, Vanessa Marcil, Molly Sims, and Marsha Thomason.
Caan left the series last year to return to his movie career and Cox was cut from the show in a cost-cutting move. Caan was replaced by Tom Selleck and it was hoped that the addition of the veteran TV actor would help revitalize the series. It didn’t and, coupled with the series’ move to Friday nights, the ratings dropped significantly.
Last year, Las Vegas was one of the earliest NBC shows to get a renewal notice. What a difference a year can make.
NBC has opted not to renew Las Vegas for season six. Unlike Friday Night Lights, Vegas apparently doesn’t warrant shopping to other possible outlets and fans of the series are left with a cliffhanger. The last two episodes aired last Friday and was first in the ratings for both hours, Unbeknownst to viewers at the time, it was likely the last time we’ll see the staff of the Montecito. Stay tuned!
HOW CAN BIG TELEVISION GIANTS THAT WANT TO PLEASE THERE AUDIENCES JUST GO AND CANCEL A SHOW WITH A CLIFFHANGER. KNOWING THAT THE FANS ARE GOING TO WANT MORE. LAS VEGAS WAS A GREAT SHOW AND TO CANCEL IT WITHOUT CLOSURE SHOWS HOW NBC COULD GIVE A SH– LESS ABOUT THERE AUDIENCE. I WILL NEVER WATCH ANOTHER PROGRAM ON NBC AGAIN. MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE BEEN WATCHING THE RERUNS AND DECIDED TO BUY THE WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS A COMPLETE SET OF DVD’S. WE JUST WATCHED THE LAST EPISODE OF SEASON 5 NOT KNOWING THAT THE JOKE WAS ON… Read more »
Once again, I’m very disappointed with NBC. They actually did something right when they aired a great show (Las Vegas), but only to disappoint me by taking it off the air and to compound the disappointment with a cliffhanger.
BRING THE SHOW BACK.. there was NO better show on Friday Nights. Has NBC completely lost their minds… a YEAR LATER and my wife and I are STILL waiting for the show to return!
Wow – Bummer!!!! We really enjoyed Las Vegas. I just found out NBC cancelled the show. It was one I looked forward to seeing each week when it was on. I had to look on the internet just to see what happened to it. Loved the characters, they all worked to well together to make a great show. Shame on you NBC!!!
NBC really let a lot of fans down when they cancelled Las Vegas. A poor idea on their part.
Las Vegas has also got a lot of fans in Europe. I’m from the Netherlands and I’m also very disappointed that the show has been cancelled. Yesterday I’ve watched the last episode on DVD with the message “To be continued…” That’s what fans deserve. I want to know how it continues!
wow!!! I have never been in love with a television series before but I fell in love with this one. The chemistry with the cast members was amazing, the story lines superb, I actually have something to look forward to!! Please tell me this is a cruel joke??!!
This show makes me wish these characters exsisted, the network made a show that has captivated us all. Please bring em back!!!!
I Just found out that the series Vegas was cancelled and am very dissappointed with NBC and find it hard to understand why a network would abandon a success and leave the viewers stranded. Shame on You NBC why should we watch any new shows from this network just to be dissappointed at a later date!
I just fount out that NBC canceled Las Vegas they should end it not on a cliffhanger but they should end it with a happy ending like what happen to the baby did danny and delinda get hitched do not leave the fan hanging
I am from Puerto Rico and a verry good fan of Las vegas and I tink that if NBC cancelate the Serie at least they must make one or two chapters to end it properly .That is what the fans deserved.I also A.J.Cooper is a good character.
I just found out that Las Vegas has been cancelled. I am in shock. I was online looking to find out when the series is supposed to start again, and BAM..the news that they have been canncelled, wow this is like when my puppy died..NBC, i dont know who makes decisions over there, but this is one of the worst mistake ever…
