On the heels of reversing its decision to renew Z: The Beginning of Everything for a second season, Amazon has cancelled The Last Tycoon TV show, after only one season. The drama series — inspired by F. Scott Fitzgerald’s unfinished novel of the same name — comes from writer and director Billy Ray.
Streaming on the Amazon Prime Video paid subscription platform, The Last Tycoon stars Matt Bomer, Kelsey Grammer, Lily Collins, Rosemarie DeWitt, Dominique McElligott, Enzo Cilenti, Mark O’Brien, Jessica De Gouw, Koen De Bouw, Jennifer Beals, Saul Rubinek, and Eion Bailey. The period drama centers on “Hollywood’s Golden Boy” Monroe Stahr (Bomer). The young producer struggles with studio boss Pat Brady (Grammer), over the path they should take. The two clash, when the Nazi regime informs them that they will have to abide by Hitler’s standards, if they want to release their films in Germany.
Deadline has confirmed The Last Tycoon TV series cancellation.

I just finished watching this series and really enjoyed it. I actually binged it in two days. Then googled to see if there was a season two. I am so sorry to read that it has been canceled.
Absolutely a must ~ continue this series. Such a cliff hanger. Wouldn’t it be great to see Monroe forgive Kathleen after he recuperates from his heart attack . . or is that the issue. He doesn’t survive it & the narrative just isn’t the same without him. I just starting watching this in 2022. I would definitely continue watching a season 2 should Amazon ever decide to film another season. It has been 5 years since the show first aired so I really don’t think that’s going to happen.
Please finish the Last Tycoon. So well done. I need to see more. How can you leave the audience hanging?

Just finished watching The Last Tycoon, which was excellent in all categories. It was refreshing to see a Hollywood story that took place during the 1920/30’s. Another great show getting cancelled before its time.
This show should be a feather in Amazon’s hat. Great story. Great acting. Why was it cancelled? Bad mistake, Amazon.
This news was unbelievable to me. It was a great series given some of the bilge that they make for season after season it’s crazy something this well put together doesn’t make it.
