It’s “lights out” for FX’s new boxing drama series. FX has cancelled Lights Out after one season due to poor ratings.
Lights Out revolves around Patrick ‘Lights’ Leary (Holt McCallany), an aging former heavyweight boxing champion. He struggles to find his identity and support his wife and three daughters after retiring from the ring. The poor economy and a series of bad investments leave Patrick at a perilous crossroads; battling the urge to return to boxing or reluctantly accepting a job as a brutal and intimidating debt collector. The show also features Catherine McCormack, Pablo Schreiber, and Stacy Keach.
Though some critics applauded the series, not many people watched the premiere in January. It registered just a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.487 million viewers. The second episode dropped to a 0.4 rating and 0.92 million viewers. The season has averaged a 0.4 in the demo and 0.88 million.
To no surprise, FX isn’t ordering a second season of Lights Out. The cable channel made the announcement today and indicated that the final two episodes will air as previously scheduled; on March 29th and April 5th at 10pm.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Lights Out cancelled? Why do you think it didn’t catch on?

Wow is FX retarded! This show was sooo awsome I had it dvr every night I’m sooo sad to hear they aren’t picking it up for atleast one more season! I realllllly hope some other network is smart enough and has the balls to pick this one up! Screw u FX
I loved this show. Hate to see it go. I wonder if there ratings captured dvr’s , I think it had more fans than a .88 mill. Hate to lose a show this good.
This was the only show that my husband and I made sure we watched every week. Loved the premise of the show, but the writing continued to get worse every week. Some episodes brought in new ideas and characters only to be forgotten as the story line progressed. It was like each episode was written to be the last show. The last episode was a real let down. A fight scene that was so horribly choreographed it was hard to watch and a totally unbelievable ending. We really rooted for this show. It could have been a great show if… Read more »

I loved this show – please reconsider and bring it back.
I dedicated myself to a TV series for the first time, and Lights Out was that show. Really, really wish they would continue with a second season….
My husband and I never missed an episode–we loved it. So sorry to hear it was cancelled. It had a lot of heart and soul. characters were so well acted and real. What a shame! We are definitely disappointed.
That is really upsetting, I looked forward to this show every week.
Don’t cancel!!! Great show! I put this show right up there with soa!
I had to DVR the show because of my work schedule but never ever missed a week of viewing it. My entire family wife and three boys absolutly enjoyed this show. This was the best show far none. I am very upset at FX for cancelling this show. Maybe someone else will pick it up like SPIKE. Please bring back this show!!
the show was great its a shame that it was cancelled it just goes to show you the mentality of people todaythey will have to put another reality show on people cant handle a show where there is actual dialog and a story they just want to watch a bunch of idiots running around making asses of themselves!!
Well said!!
I for one, am so sick of these mindless, talentless (Reality) idiots that have been taking over the airwaves. Meanwhile, scripted shows with real actors who have been trained and actually have talent ,are being cancelled. This show was fantastic, and I am so sorry to see that the network didn’t give it a “fighting” chance …sorry…had to go there 🙂
Would love to see another network pick it up, but that would be a long shot. The only demographic that makes enough noise are not those watching these shows, sadly.
We need a season 2 this was a great show
I am SO UPSET! This was a GREAT show with tons of potential!
I was really looking forward to a second season of the show.
So disappointed loved that show
