It’s “lights out” for FX’s new boxing drama series. FX has cancelled Lights Out after one season due to poor ratings.
Lights Out revolves around Patrick ‘Lights’ Leary (Holt McCallany), an aging former heavyweight boxing champion. He struggles to find his identity and support his wife and three daughters after retiring from the ring. The poor economy and a series of bad investments leave Patrick at a perilous crossroads; battling the urge to return to boxing or reluctantly accepting a job as a brutal and intimidating debt collector. The show also features Catherine McCormack, Pablo Schreiber, and Stacy Keach.
Though some critics applauded the series, not many people watched the premiere in January. It registered just a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.487 million viewers. The second episode dropped to a 0.4 rating and 0.92 million viewers. The season has averaged a 0.4 in the demo and 0.88 million.
To no surprise, FX isn’t ordering a second season of Lights Out. The cable channel made the announcement today and indicated that the final two episodes will air as previously scheduled; on March 29th and April 5th at 10pm.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Lights Out cancelled? Why do you think it didn’t catch on?

This sucks along with justified being cut so you can dress a man as a dog? awesome because your awesome. Why cut lights out? I hate dogs and I am awesome.
Loved the show. People I asked , “do you watch”, nobody knew anything about it. FX did a poor job of publicizing the show.
cancelled? it was such a terrific show….
That sucks…Me and my boyfriend loved this show. Thanks a lot for taking another show away from us!!!!
I can’t believe that you cancelled another great show. Some body needs their head examed!!!!!! I really enjoyed a family type show like this.
I wish they hadn’t cancelled this! FX like to screw over shows. USA is a much better network- They advertise months in advance and keep advertising. The reason Lights Out failed is due to purposeful poor marketing on FX’s part.
enjoyed the series however i do not believe another season would be any good, i mean where would it go? an boxing champ turning full mobster? Was a good show, yet cancling it sadly the best possible choice fox could make.
My wife, kids, and I really enjoyed this show, and made it a point to all make this our family weekly TV show. All of us are disappointed and want FX to reconsider.
I really enjoyed the series! Sad to see that it is not coming back. The show was definitely a deviation from the typical television series. I hope by some miracle it returns for more seasons!
I think FX just wastes all of their money on sons of anarchy and leaves no money to produce a show for the type of people who are into sports dramas not crime thrillers and that ****
Wow. A show I actually made a point to sit and watch every new episode and it gets the boot. Sat to see you go Lights I enjoyed are time.
Are you kidding me? I love that show! You know fox keeps messin up. They shut off Family guy twice before they got there heads out of their ass’s I hope they do the same with this show.
Yes, I am verydisappointed. My husband and I watched every episode of Lights out.
It was a great show. It is truly disappointing that not everyone watched the show but the fx isn’t giving it another chance. We were waiting to see the next season after Patrick kicked the other guys ass. The drama was just unfolding.
Well I hope that FX changes their mind.
Thanks a lot for cancelling yet another show I watch. Why do the TV networks do this to customers? We start watching a show, we get involved with the story… then bam… no more show. No end of the story. Do you have any idea how aggravating it is to get part way through the story and never know how it ends? I’d like to rip the last chapter out of every novel every TV exec starts reading for the next 10 years. See how they like it!
Sarah, I completely agree! I am still so disappointed, my fiance and I finally had a show we both loved!!
No come on its the best serie at the moment.
we in Holland looking forward to next show
