Why did CBS cancel Limitless? At this summer’s TCA press tour, network chief Glenn Geller explained why there will be no second season of the series, TVInsider reports.
Based on the 2011 film, the drama followed Brian Finch (Jake McDorman), who is given a special drug that unlocks 100% of his brain. The cast also included Jennifer Carpenter, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Hill Harper, and Colin Salmon.
During the panel, Geller said CBS cancelled Limitless because he didn’t “think it connected with the viewers”:
Ultimately we had to look at the show; it was a very good show, but I don’t think it connected with the viewers as well as other shows had. Yeah, we could have brought it back. But we also have to put on new shows and give other things a shot. It could have come back, but we have to do better; we want to improve time periods. That’s why we put on new shows.”
What do you think? Did you watch Limitless? Do you think the show should’ve been renewed?
network chief Glenn Geller is proving CBS and several other “primetime” networks losing people faster than the NFL. They don’t their audience or wish they had a different follower base.
This stinks! We loved this show. It was quirky and smart all at the same time. Please reconsider and bring it back!
I am VERY disappointed that Limitless got cancelled. Of all the mindless dumbed-down shows on TV these days, and they choose to cancel one of the few smart ones? The special effects were really good, the characters very likable, the storyline was dramatic… I am shaking my head!! BAD MOVE!!
I was hooked with this series!! Loved it! Such a shame it’s not being renewed… although they didn’t exactly leave it on a cliff hanger, maybe on purpose for the cancellation, but still I know good writers could deffo revamp it to make it way more awesome… I just love the quick thinking and intelligence mixed with humour/wit and action!
I haven’t finished watching it, but I think it’s a great show and should be renewed for its next seasons until the finale
I can’t more than english, but i say , that is a very very good tv serious , i again and again watched this tv serious, I will hope to watch seson 2 in limitless , pleasee fix it, you can do it , congratulation , good job , thnk you
I agree that canceling this show was a rather bad move on the part of CBS; however – if one has not seen the 2011 film (starring Bradley Cooper…) then I can understand why it didn`’t make it – I was a huge fan of both the movie as well as the TV series. Too bad.
I loved Limitless. Can’t imagine why it was cancelled. Someone must have gotten bad data.
Limitless was like that good book your friend recommends you read. You keep telling them, you’ll get to it later; it’s at the bottom of a long list. Now I’ve watched the show and it’s cancelled because no one got to it soon enough. Great show! Great characters! Exciting and imaginative.
Yep, another good show cancelled for more “conventionnal” live TV or cop shows! No wonder TV is loosing viewers if when you get hooked up to a show they can at least give you a final closing. If a show is to be cancelled, at least have a decency to make a 2 or 3 special episodes to conclude the story. That is why I mostly watch series on Netflix now, once all the episodes are out. Then I know I have a full series, not just a season.
Please dont, I loved Limitless, I just finished and I was hooked to it. Nice plot, nice humor and Really exciting. Please, dont cancel it
Heaven forbid a show that has imagination, humor, excitement and a great cast be renewed. I know this sounds like a cliche … but it honestly was my favorite series. I will not watch a show that does not have an edge to it, I don’t watch mindless sitcoms, cop shows or “reality” TV, maybe I’m in the minority.
I watch very few tv series. I loved Limitless. Can’t imagine why it was cancelled. Someone must have gotten bad data. If another network picks it up I’ll be there in a heartbeat.
I love the movie and also love the TV series. CBS should not have canceled it. Please… another more intelligent network, step in and bring back the series.
Can we have season 2 please
