It looks like the story of the Sutton clan has come to an end. ABC Family has quietly decided to cancel Lincoln Heights after four seasons.
Lincoln Heights tells the story of Officer Eddie Sutton (Russell Hornsby) who moves his family back to his old neighborhood. Other castmembers include Erica Hubbard, Nikki Micheaux, Rhyon Brown, Mishon Ratliff, Robert Adamson, and Michael Reilly Burke.
The TV show debuted on January 8, 2007 and the first season was successful enough to warrant a renewal by March. At that point, it was one of the cable channel’s higher performers in the key demographics.
While announcing that the second season would kick off in September 2007, ABC Family President Paul Lee said, “We really think we have something unique here… The fact that it’s an African American family drama alone separates it from the crowd, but its terrific cast and superb writing also make it truly special and perfect for ABC Family.”

Following season two, it took several months for ABC Family to decide to bring Lincoln Heights back for a third round. They finally did and that kicked off in September 2008. The audience grew and the show became the cable channel’s top performer among Females 12-34 and Female teens. It didn’t take as long to renew the series for year four.
Season four kicked off in September 2009. It ended up being one of the channel’s weaker programs of 2009, being outperformed by other ABC Family shows, including cancelled Kyle XY.
No specific reason was given for the Lincoln Heights cancellation. However, though it’s been favored by some critics, the series has never been a big hit for the cable channel and has only been given 10 episode renewals each season.

Well everytime I start watching shows that I really do enjoy,ABC cancels them. Everybody knows lincoln heights was the best. Just briing the show back. Let us have something,take away some of the garbage stuff. I’m upset about this one.

Why do the great skows get cancelled. I enjoyed each a d all the are extremely talented. I think it needs to be brought back asap and why can’t. Another station pi ck up the show?
Lincoln Heights was a great show that should not have been cancelled. They should give them to another station like BET or Centric to play the reruns. At least put them Ondemand so those who like it can watch as many times as they like.
I think the show should come back i have been sittting on my couch me & my cousin checking our TV every day to see when Lincoln Heigts was coming back on we have just been waiting for it thinking we have missied it . I AM SO UPSET ABOUT THIS, WHY AND HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN, IT SEEMS LIKE SOMETHING CAN BE DONE, I WAS SO UPSET THAT I HAD A HEART ATTACK AND WENT INTO THE HOSPITAL FOR SEVERAL DAYS.
I was not aware of this series until about 4 months ago and was thoroughly enjoying it, recorded it and was watching religiously with anticipation. Noticing it had not come on in a while, I began searching first the TV channels and then finally the internet to find out what gives. SORELY disappointed that after just one down season, it has been cancelled! Tell me how many black america shows are there on right now
It seem that the there are no black american show any more and the ones that are on dont make any since. They are no family mode shows that teach like shows in the 80’s or 90’s The good one they cancel them this was a good show with a lot of today issues in with black america but im sorry but shows today are for white america. Just look at the writes they try but CEO cancel them.
I think Lincoln Heights was a great show and the writers found an excellent way to portray many of the American social realities that are not often discussed in the media. This was a great example of how communities create relationships among its neighbors regardless of race or religious beliefs. Whenever anything that comes out in the media that has a authentic theme of uniting people, it gets the ax. Hmmmmm.
I am extremely upset that Lincoln Heights was canceled. I believe this show related to the world today more then any other show has. This brought together all types of people to watch this. My own mom and ex would watch this show, because it’s not just a chick flick or some action show, it has everything and everything we deal with in our lives today. This show needs to get re aired or give its viewers a good ending.
I’m highly upset that Lincoln Heights has been canceled. Why is it everytime when a show is relating to everyday life is the one that gets cancel – UNBELIEVEABLE. Lincoln Heights is the only show I hurry up to get home to watch – yes I have it being recorded but I do watch the show while its being recorded. This was one of the only citcoms on TV that my family could relate to. It wasn’t like 90210. It was about a family that dealt with every day life. A lot of the issues were about what we go through. There are so many reality shows that it has taken over TV and most of them the children can’t even see. This was one of those shows that should have stayed on TV or cable. I guess it depends on who’s watching.
Im very upset that this show got canceled!!! This was my favorite show on this channel… i was so looking forward to it coming back on and when it didnt i was very upset!!!!
Lincoln Heights was a really great show that the entire family could watch- it would be great for it to get picked-up by another network.
