The peacock network has gotten tired of picking up the tab for “three of New York’s most powerful women.” They’re not ordering more episodes of the Lipstick Jungle TV show after two seasons and 20 episodes.
Lipstick Jungle is based on the best-selling book by Sex and the City’s Candace Bushnell and follows the lives of three high-powered friends; former studio president Wendy Healy (Brooke Shields), magazine editor Nico Reilly (Kim Raver), and fashion designer Victory Fords (Lindsay Price). Others castmembers include performers like Paul Blackthorne, Andrew McCarthy, Robert Buckley, Sarah Hyland, David Norona, Dylan Clark Marshall, Seth Kirschner, Matt Lauria, David Alan Basche, and Marcia DeBonis.
The series debuted as a midseason replacement series on February 7, 2008. Despite being part of NBC’s Thursday night line-up, Jungle only attracted 7.54 million viewers and a 2.9/8 rating/share of the 18-49 demographic. The rest of the season averaged fewer than six million viewers each week.
Because of the writers strike, only seven episodes were produced. Ratings-challenged NBC decided to take a chance and renewed the show for a second year of 13 episodes, hoping that the numbers would improve.

When Jungle returned for its second season, the ratings were even lower than they were in season one. On Wednesday nights, the show averaged a paltry five million viewers and a 2/5 rating/share. After five weeks, NBC essentially gave up on the series and moved it to Friday nights at 10pm. Much of the Jungle audience didn’t follow and those two episodes have averaged just 3.26 million.
To no surprise, NBC has pulled the plug on the show’s future. The series’ writers actually cleaned out their offices last week. On the positive side, all 13 episodes of this season are being completed and will continue to be shown on Friday nights for the immediate future. Seven have aired, leaving six episodes to go. Because production is so close to wrapping, it’s unlikely that the final episode will conclude the series’ storylines. It’s even more unlikely that NBC would order a third season.
It’s expected that Friday Night Lights will take Jungle’s place in January. Stay tuned!

I don’t know what to say! why NBC?! why?! People around the world in millions are whatching please give us Lipstick jungle back! I think it needs another go or even two, LJ didn’t get a fair chance you launched it to close to that Sex and the city was done and to close to the movie. Sex and the city was a great show and the movie too. You needed to let people “get over” those first. But done is done! Now don’t blow off an other great show that can become even greater then Sex in the city… Read more »
I really like this show. I hope there’s a third season next year. After sex and the city, Lipstick jungle is the best show for a quite a while. So I just hope that the producer can really see the market, at least in China. We love this show. The female white collar workers and the college students.
I think lipstick jungle is the best show, I’ve been waiting for season 3! Needless to say how disappointed I am that the network has pulled the plug. I wasnt able to watch the episodes on TV because of work but i got on-line all the time to watch every episode, it gave me something to look forward to, it gave me hope that friends really can be that close. I know it’s only TV but nobody could of played them parts better than them women, thats a fact. I wish the network would please give the show another run, please?
I love this show but missed some of the episodes because it was not consistant. I wished it was on for 2 hours instead of 1 hour. All the characters were great and I sure hope they bring it back.
I waited for months to b uy the 2nd Season on DVD. It would be simply a shame to stop this show! I’m always looking forward to the day to watch it on TV. More and more people are getting interested in Lipstick Jungle…. isn’t this a reason to continue?
They have to put Lipstick Jungle season 3 on because i love it. its the new best thing after sex and the city. i watched every episode on tv and i now own both seasons. there has to to be a season 3 at least to finish it off. with victory and joe, kirby and everybody else. i love it. i love the fashion. i would stay up late every time it was on just to watch it even though it was on at 11:30pm. i loved it that much. so plz try to make a third season.

OMG!!! Please don’t cancel it’s the best show since forever I love it! I have brought both season 1 & 2 on dvd and am hanging for the third to see what happens….oh please!!!!!!!!!
The program was one of the best on TV. All the cast was great. Now I won’t get to see Victory and Joe marry. What a bummer!
I love LJ! dont cancel…….
I think y’all at NBC are making another mistake by cancelling “Lipstick Jungle”! You cancelled “My Own Worst Enemy” and now this too?? You need to do more advertising, pump up the shows and actors and give them some time. First you get people hooked and then you let them down. We won’t want to start watching a new series for fear it will be cancelled. Aren’t there enough reality shows? Give us drama and good actors!
la serie es buenisima por favor que siga kirby es un bombom me encanta la pareja que hace con nico me que gustaria estar en su lugar
Please do another season of this show. I live in Ecuador and LJ has a lot of fans here!!!! Love Vic, Wendy and Nico, they are so easy to relate to. It
Maybe the fact that I recorded all of my shows on my DVR didnt help the ratings but i am devestated with the news and I want LJ back asap. That was one of my top ten shows to watch and no one, i mean no one could interupt me when my LJ was on.
I told so many people about it that they started watching. Get it together NBC you’ll be losing out.
WHAT???
I looove that show, and most of my friends here in SWEDEN- how can they do this???
