TV show description:
Set in Big Sky country, this thriller TV show is based on the Walt Longmire Mystery novels by best-selling author Craig Johnson.
Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) is the charismatic, dedicated and unflappable sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming. Recently widowed, Longmire is a man who buries his pain behind a brave face and dry wit. He’s known for his manners, strength, and old-fashioned approach. His dedication to the law and his passion for the great West make him a desirable lawman.
Victoria ‘Vic’ Moretti (Katee Sackhoff) is the newest addition to the sheriff’s office. Leaving the homicide division in Philadelphia after five years, Vic is still adjusting to dealing with the locals in her new town. Her playful relationship with Longmire holds a deeper connection that allows her to be his most trusted deputy. Vic is out to prove she isn’t a rookie and to show she is capable and loyal.
Henry Standing Bear (Lou Diamond Phillips) is Walt’s lifelong best friend and a local bar owner. Henry is a handsome and charming Cheyenne who is fiercely protective of his tribe and serves as Walt’s go-between with the reservation. Being a business owner, he is comfortable with progress and modernity while maintaining a connection with his past, unlike his close friend.
Deputy Branch Connally (Bailey Chase) is a go-getter with blind confidence. He has political aspirations that often motivate him more than solving cases. His resentment toward Walt’s outdated approach further inspire him to run for sheriff, especially after feeling that he is picking up his boss’s slack. He wants to bring Absaroka County into the 21st century, and he longs to update the sheriff’s station with the technology that other law enforcement agencies use.
Another deputy, The Ferg (Adam Bartley), is a big guy with the heart of a puppy dog. He is loyal, sweet, well-meaning and eager to please. A gifted fly-fisherman who knows how to hunt and fix things, The Ferg has a long way to go as an investigator. Even though he may not be a perfect fit for the job, he is no coward.
Cady Longmire (Cassidy Freeman) is Walt’s only child and an attorney with dreams of the big city. After the death of her mother, Cady has taken it upon herself to help her father get his life back together. She is keenly aware of his imperfections and is the only one not afraid to point them out. Her straight talk and sense of humor connect this father-daughter duo even though they both tend to drive the other crazy.

What do you think? Are you a fan of the Longmire TV series? Do you think it should have ended or been renewed for a seventh season on Netflix?
I love the TV show Longmire. I hope it comes back on for many more seasons. Great show.
Just getting started watching it on Netflix. First episode he pronounced Rainer wrong – as a native Seattle-ite it struck me as odd and inauthentic. Or, perhaps it was sarcastic – like pronouncing target as tar-jay. Anyway, I’m hooked and will keep watching.
I really enjoy the show I love they have Native Americans in the show. You don’t see to many movies or TV shows like Longmire. It is very enjoyable. Each show is different and you don’t always know what the ending is going to be. I think it should continue and not be canceled.
Fell for Walter, Vic, and Henry on the very first episode I watched. If I feel no connection and/or no empathy for the lead actor within the first two or three episodes I’m done! I too love the Indian connection but am ignorant as to their ceremonies and symbolism within. I’m hoping you are staying true to their culture. On another subject, I hope your keeping Walters spunky sparky little persuer in as she adds a lightness and a little humor to the show as well as suspense ‘Will she or won’t she get him to lighten the heck up’… Read more »
I like the John Wayne style of the show. I would love to hear more about the Indian customs. This season just started so what’s with “season finale” I read???? I am really interested in what’s going to happen to Henry and if there is a love in interest with Walt NOT Vic
Good drama. I love the Indian involvement. So very interesting. Keep it up
Love, love, love Longmire!!!!
I will ask again since you don’t see to have a contact us function on this site. We’re coming up on week 3 of season 3 of Longmire and you haven’t created a post for the season 3 ratings. Yet you have already created on for Major Crimes that just started season 3 this week. What’s the holdup on one for Longmire?
I enjoyed Longmire’s previous seasons. Why is Longmire now a hip antagonistic individual instead of a rancher doing a job he didn’t want just because it needed to be done? Longmire was decisive, strong, and independent. A symbol of this total change is the truck. Longmire of old drove a beat-up ranch truck. He kept things, He valued what he had. Now he drives this big RAM 2014 truck, He wears this Toby Keith Cowboy hat. The show has a new writer? The inspiration is gone! We used to know who he was and were interested in what he would… Read more »
Not sure where you got the rancher backstory for Longmire. On the show Longmie has been the Sheriff for 20 or more years. He was driving the Ram truck in the latest episode because his Bronco had its tire shot out by Mathias and is being repaired. The Bronco will be back as it was in the 1st season where he wrecked it and it was off for repair for awhile. They also often use Omar’s Ram when going “undercover” and need to use a vehicle that doesn’t have Sheriff markings. The cowboy hat has been with him from the… Read more »
We love Longmire, the acting, writing, scenery, Longmire is a wonderful show, we are tired of the big city cop dramas . They are all the same, Why hasn’t Longmire been nomated for Emmys?
A&E is treating this wonderful show ****** WHY?
There are very few tv series that are as wholesome and entertaining as Longmire. Most are filled with foul language and improper sexual situations. It seems like anything goes. I can’believe that we have to resort to all of this dirt and smut as entertainment. I just started watching this past months and have been trying to catch up on earlier episodes from seasons 1 & 2. I will be sadly disappointed if this show does not continue with even additional numbers of episodes each season. Please don’t let the fans of this show down!!! Another series with this same… Read more »
Wondered “why” they decided they had to do the filming in New Mexico, instead of Wyoming, since the novels I’m sure they do not take place in New Mexico, do they?
Not that filming in Wyoming would be any better of course, since New Mexico is maybe a good location to film the series there also.
The novels take place in Wyoming. They film in New Mexico because New Mexico has the infrastructure already in place for movie and TV production and Wyoming doesn’t. Santa Fe has Garson Studios. A lot of the production talent also reside in an around the area as there are quite a few movies and TV shows that have or are filming there. Breaking Bad was filmed in the area also. New Mexico also has generous tax incentives for the production company. So like most things, cost is big part of the equation.
I love Longmire. I wish it had more episodes in a season. Keep Longmire going; comedy television is just so raunchy anymore.
I have to add, as a past resident of the wild, wonderful, and windy state of Wyoming, the slogan of “Big Sky Country” belongs to Montana, not Wyoming.
I Think Longmire is very watchable a different US show, Being a fan of American shows I want to see more of this one . Love the fact that it is based around the area of the States that we have visited. We love Colorado, Wyoming and it’s big Sky
The Season 3 opener did not disappoint, it was spectacular! Fast paced and the hour flew by and I wanted more, more, more. Was so glad to see Walt (shirtless again!) and company along with supporting characters we don’t see enough of like Jacob Nighthorse, Mathias (shirtless), Barlow Connally and the wonderful New Mexico Landscape subbing as Wyoming. Thought it was funny that Walt and Ferg did an inline commercial for Ram Trucks. Since they did that I think it’s only fair they get Sam Elliot (the voice of RAM) to reciprocate and do a guest spot on Longmire. They… Read more »
I am so with on this you on this point. 24 episodes a season would be better. This show will last as long as 24 or better, NCIS.. Longmire, because of the cast and story-line, is a huge hit for a “long while”. Sign the long-term contracts, put up the cash, and get it done.
G-dubya
Love this show. But I just Gotta know one thing. What is the brand of beer with the big red R on it that all the characters are drinking?
Rainer. It’s brewed in Washington State.
