TV Line reports actress Taylor Russell has been cast as Judy Robinson in the new Lost In Space TV show reboot, coming to Netflix in 2018. Ms. Russell played Evelyn in the fifth and final season of Noah Wyle’s Falling Skies, which ended its run on TNT in 2015.
In the original series, Judy was the eldest child of Dr. John Robinson (Guy Williams) and Dr. Maureen Robinson (June Lockhart). Mark Goddard, Bill Mummy, Angela Cartwright, and Jonathan Harris also starred.
Marta Kristen originated the role of Judy in Irwin Allen’s classic Lost In Space TV series, which premiered in 1965 and ran for three seasons, before being cancelled by CBS in 1968.
Heather Graham was cast in the role, for the 1998 feature film. Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless are writing the reimagined hourlong drama. Zack Estrin is set as showrunner. Netflix ordered the 10-episode first season from Legendary TV back in June of this year.
The new series still features the Robinson family, which Netflix says, “…is forced to come together in a time of crisis. Stranded light years from their intended destination, they find themselves battling a strange new alien environment and also their own personal demons. Equal parts family drama and sci-fi adventure, it is a survival story for the ages.”
Russell’s other TV series work includes appearances on The CW‘s Emily Owens MD, CBC‘s Strange Empire, and Freeform‘s Dead of Summer. She also played Lark Voorhies in The Unauthorized Saved By the BellStory, a Lifetime movie.
