When Lucifer premiered in early 2016, many people wanted the show to be cancelled before they even saw it, at least in part because of the subject matter. While the show’s ratings weren’t great, they were good enough for the FOX series to be renewed. Will it do well enough to get a third season renewal? Stay tuned.
On the Lucifer TV show, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Following a brutal murder outside of his nightclub, he starts to have feelings of compassion for the first time in billions of years and ends up helping a homicide detective (Lauren German). In season two, Lucifer and his brother (D. B. Woodside) team up to find their mother (Tricia Helfer) who recently escaped from Hell. The rest of the cast includes Rachael Harris, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Aimee Garcia, and Scarlett Estevez.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
2/13 update: FOX has renewed Lucifer for a third season. Details here.
5/30 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The first season of Lucifer averaged a 1.47 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.56 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Lucifer TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a third season?
Lucifer has potential to be a very good show. However, the writers need to infuse more energy and creativity into the weekly story lines. Introducing his mother has added nothing to the quality of the show. The actors are great, the writers need to bring back “entertaining ” not boring tv.
Bring it back for a third season!
Lucifer is our favorite show There’s nothing else like it. When both my husband and I love the same show, it is usually cancelled. Don’t cancel! Although the title turns people off, if they watch it they’ll find it doesn’t cross the line of Christianity. It’s about Lucifer wanting to reconcile with his Father and understand. Makes ya think. It’s very well done and quite entertaining. I’m in no way offended or put off as a Christian.
Lucifer is really the best show I ever watched . And the soundtrack isn’t from this earth. How can you not love these great cast, the beautiful ideas and the wonderful story. Please keep the show alive as long as possible. Please don’t stop producing Lucifer! There are too much fans!!

Lucifer freaking morning star is the best show I ever watched, I’m hooked on it and I can’t wait to see episode 11 and perhaps even a season 3 #Lucifer(Tom Ellis) deserves an award for portraying an amazing character the devil in such way that it is perfection damn the whole show deserves one and the cast. #16
I love this show. The characters are great, it’s well written and I am so hooked on the storyline. Please renew
I am hooked on Lucifer and have been since the first episode. The casting department could not have chosen better actors for the characters.
My husband saw the first episode of this seasin and is as addicted as I am.
Please do not cancel it. The people who watch are almost rabid in their love for the show.
As Lucifer said in one episode, “I am not evil. I punish evil” loved that statement..
Please don’t cancel! Love this show.
this is one of the best shows of 2016 I’ve had the pleasure of watching. I’ve had so much going on in my personal life that being able to delve into something that interests me more than most topics in subjects that are on television nowadays they don’t really have that much substance is something that I can appreciate and will fight for. season 2 was really good and I enjoyed it and they need to revamp it for season3. many of the characters have a whole bunch of depth. the acting is completely out of this world it’s so… Read more »
Lucifer has to keep going, I’ve only started to watch it but I’m completely hooked and finished season 1 in one day. I am sick and tired of seeing good series like this get canceled for having “bad ratings” just because people are so judgemental about it and won’t even give it a fair shot. Yeah sure maybe it’s not the same as the original comics version but for christ’s sake! people need to understand that the directors or the producers can’t always have the same plot or whatever is in the comics or books you’re reading. I mean great… Read more »
Love it watch it twice a week
i am from Pakistan and simply like it
What a waste of an epic Neil Gaiman character. Feels like the scriptwriter didn’t get further then the back cover of the comic book, and then fantasized up this odd pg police drama with a stripped down wannabe Lucifer. Bury and forget, and then hope that someone who understands horror picks it up in a few years time :p
I loved the comic, but unless it was on HBO it would not be true to the comic. It is a fun show. Just view it as an elseworld story and it works fine.
Honestly, I am not from the US to increase the ratings or whatever, but me and alot of friends watch this online. I think if it airs in netflix – available internationally, the ratings would be much higher.
