ABC has done very well with their political drama, Scandal. Will Madam Secretary be a similar ratings hit for CBS? Will it be renewed for a second season or will it be cancelled? Stay tuned.
On Madam Secretary, former CIA analyst Elizabeth McCord (Tèa Leoni) returns to public life after being recruited by the President (Keith Carradine) to become the new Secretary of State. The rest of the cast includes Željko Ivanek, Bebe Neuwirth, Geoffrey Arend, Patina Miller, Erich Bergen, Tim Daly, Katherine Herzer, and Evan Roe.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
1/12 update: Madam Secretary and two other shows have been renewed for a second season by CBS.
Final season averages: 1.44 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.82 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a couple weeks later.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Madam Secretary TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for season two?
Madame Secretary is my favorite show on TV. I am glad it has a 2nd season and hopes many more. CBS is the only station that I watch. You have done a great job with NCIS, NCIS New Orleans and Survivor. Just wish someone would come up with some good comedy, like the old Reba and Friends show.
Thanks for the great shows.
Please. Please. Please. Don’t cancel this show!!! My only complaint is that with it being on Sunday night at 7:00 pm, it gets bumped for everything. I wish it were on regularly. It seems that every other week it’s not on for one reason or another. It is the only show my husband look forward to. We love it!
Please don’t cancel it. This show is in our top 5 weekly shows!
This is one of the best shows on TV and Tea Leoni is one of the best female characters on television today. This show should definitely carry on for several more seasons!! Intelligently written and incredibly well acted. It’s a keeper!!!
Love this show. The most realistic political drama on the tube. The range of moral values and family interactions is amazing as well as refreshing. This show is a must keep.
PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL
One of the best shows out there. Please do not cancel.
please don’t cancel. I love this series! Great cast and story line. Gripping episodes.
Love this show. My wife and I don’t watch a lot of TV series but we love this one. Look forward week to week for the next episode. Great cast and drama.
This is one of two television series on TV that I watch and I love it!! I watch very little television, but am so thankful for this show. Love the cast, the family life they live and integrity that is portrayed. Keep it coming!!!!
i love this show too, i was skeptical the first time i watched it but was very entertained, great plot lines, really enjoy all the characters, the show continues the more i enjoy them. I have friends who also watch it regularly and love it.
I LOVE ALL THE TALENT SHOWS BUT THE ONLY DRAMAS I WATCH ARE
MADAM SECRETARY AND BLACK LIST. I HOPE THEY ARE NEVER CANCELLED !!
do not cancel love iy
This is one of the few great weekly TV shows I have enjoyed over this past year. The story, actors and script are way above the average TV weekly show. Definitely it should be renewed.
My husband and I watch this every week and look forward to the next episode. Tea Leoni does a great job in this role. Please renew.
How a show gets renewed with ratings like this is beyond me and great shows with better ratings like Surviving Jack on Fox got pulled after only 8 shows. The season finale only pulled a one. REALLY! Why is CBS keeping this show on the air!? I understand that one this website the show has a following but it seems that all the people that like the show are on this website because the ratings are really really bad!
Love this show. Great drama which gives much insight into political workings. All cast members are great! As good as the West Wing.
