ABC has done very well with their political drama, Scandal. Will Madam Secretary be a similar ratings hit for CBS? Will it be renewed for a second season or will it be cancelled? Stay tuned.
On Madam Secretary, former CIA analyst Elizabeth McCord (Tèa Leoni) returns to public life after being recruited by the President (Keith Carradine) to become the new Secretary of State. The rest of the cast includes Željko Ivanek, Bebe Neuwirth, Geoffrey Arend, Patina Miller, Erich Bergen, Tim Daly, Katherine Herzer, and Evan Roe.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
1/12 update: Madam Secretary and two other shows have been renewed for a second season by CBS.
Final season averages: 1.44 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.82 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a couple weeks later.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Madam Secretary TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for season two?
Is love this show…the cast is great and the writers are great. It is one of the few shows I look forward to every week. Am going to really miss it until it starts again in September. Much better than many shows you have kept on TV 🙂
My only concern is that it comes on at 8 pm and that may cause ratings to drop during football season. Maybe 9pm would be better?! Could care less about The Good Wife 🙁
Thanks, don’t cancel, please. This could be as well liked as NCIS has been over the years.

I agree with what you say here, it’s one of my favorite shows and is the favorite of other people i know. I think the 8pm time is not the best for a show with this potential. I also enjoy the Good Wife, but they are two different shows. 10pm on Sundays might be a good time for Madam Secretary and yes, 9pm on other nights. Sunday is not the greatest night because of all the sports and award specials that are often on Sunday night, but these are sometimes over by 10pm.
Madam secretary is my favorite show. Hope it sticks around for a long time!
I absolutely love Madam Secretary. The actors mesh well and the writing is quite good. It is a great lead in to my favorite TV show, The Good Wife.
I look forward to this show every week.
This is the only show I watch once a week. Please do not cancel it. I’m begging you. I’ll pay to have you make another season.
Great show. Well written & acted. Please renew the series!
I was so disappointed not to find Madame Secretary on tonight. It was the ONLY show I watched on TV networks other than 60 minutes and the news. Instead of cancelling it, you should promote it to a more intelligent crowd of watchers. Tea Leoni was superb in her role as was the rest of the cast. And it is so timely considering that Hillary Clinton, a former Madame Secretary, is now running for president.
i think it wasn’t on tonight because last week was the season finale. Hopefully it will be renewed in the Fall. It has great potential for popularity and should be given more time to be discovered by people. Many people don’t start watching shows until 9pm, after they get the kids to bed. I think it should get a 9pm time slot, on another day if needed.
We loved Madame Secretary and will miss it this summer. It had some substance to it and we recorded when we couldn’t see on Sun. eve. Please schedule it for next season.

Has now become both my husband’s and my favorite show.
This is one of two shores I watch every week. Please don’t cancel it. It is terrific.
Do not cancel!Love this show! One of few shows I now watch. Can’t be bothered watching Reality shows and “Find the Killer shows. They seem to permeate the T.V. scheduling.
I watch two shows during the weekend: one is Madame Secretary, and the other is The Good Wife. Both are great programs in difficult spots. Why do they take great shows and give them Sunday night when the stupid sports programs, and specials bump them off. Madame Secretary is great for the acting, only specified violence and is a classic. Move it to another, better time spot.
I think it is one of the best , if not the best tv show.
Thrilled the show has been renewed! Yeah! Love the show!
Was it renewed? I hadn’t heard that yet. That would be very good news.
Don’t cancel this show. It’s the first network show in over 2o years that I like.
Love this show…one of the best series on TV.
