ABC has done very well with their political drama, Scandal. Will Madam Secretary be a similar ratings hit for CBS? Will it be renewed for a second season or will it be cancelled? Stay tuned.
On Madam Secretary, former CIA analyst Elizabeth McCord (Tèa Leoni) returns to public life after being recruited by the President (Keith Carradine) to become the new Secretary of State. The rest of the cast includes Željko Ivanek, Bebe Neuwirth, Geoffrey Arend, Patina Miller, Erich Bergen, Tim Daly, Katherine Herzer, and Evan Roe.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
1/12 update: Madam Secretary and two other shows have been renewed for a second season by CBS.
Final season averages: 1.44 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.82 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a couple weeks later.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Madam Secretary TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for season two?
I truely enjoy this show! Great stories and characters. Awesome to see a strong husband with a strong wife. Too many shows portray husbands as wimps. Don’t cancel please!
Please renew this program, we love it.
Great show. Timely and well cast. Hate to see it cancelled, but CBS had a rerun last Sunday. What is happening with second season?
Finally, a great show that I look forward to watching! With hardly anything on TV worth my time, Madam Secretary is not only entertaining but also intellectually stimulating. Offering engaging insight into the veiled world of international politics, each episode introduces the viewer to the stimulating challenges faced by a former CIA operative, then college professor, and now US Secretary of State. Recruited to serve at the discretion of the President of the United States, Elizabeth McCord (Tèa Leoni), is excellent, believably integrating strategic competency and international problem solving capability at the office with human emotion and vulnerability as a… Read more »
I hope Madame Secretary stays on the air. There are very few shows I feel like watching anymore. This one at least addresses the difficult issues of the day in a morally acceptable manor. It would be a shame to cancel it.
Madame Secretary is one of the best new TV shows to come down the pike in a long time. It’s timely and VERY thought provoking regarding how the government does business in this day and age. I seriously hope that this show continues on for another season. I’m even enjoying the reruns!!
My husband and I have watched this show from the first episode. Got us interested in The Goid Wife that follows. We are so disappointed there are no more current episodes and no updates about the status. We’ll come back to the network on Sunday night when the show resumes.
Please keep Madam Secretary on the air. It’s nice to enjoy intelligent programing instead of mindless reality television. Who in the hell gives a crap about the Karadashins.
Love this show. Good acting. Great characters. Hope it continues.
It might interest you to know, Carol, that in my viewing area CBS is running the Madam Secretary series at 8:00PM this evening. Check your TV listings. I can’t get enough of that show . Don’t know if it’s moved into that time slot for the summer or just a temporary fill in.
My 14 year old daughter and I love this show! Please keep it going.
FANTSTIC SHOW! PLEASE KEEP IT GOING.
I just love Madam Secretary. Tia does such a good job. Glad to hear it will be back.
Sunday is my favorite evening of TV with 60 minutes, Madame Secretary and The Good Wife. Keep them all!
This show is one of the few really intelligent shows on television. It reminds me of “West Wing” Please do not cancel, I look forward to watching it every week
Absolutely RENEW Mme. Secretary. Tea Leoni is amazing in the part. The political and family view makes this show a must watch. Love love love it!!!
