ABC has done very well with their political drama, Scandal. Will Madam Secretary be a similar ratings hit for CBS? Will it be renewed for a second season or will it be cancelled? Stay tuned.
On Madam Secretary, former CIA analyst Elizabeth McCord (Tèa Leoni) returns to public life after being recruited by the President (Keith Carradine) to become the new Secretary of State. The rest of the cast includes Željko Ivanek, Bebe Neuwirth, Geoffrey Arend, Patina Miller, Erich Bergen, Tim Daly, Katherine Herzer, and Evan Roe.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
1/12 update: Madam Secretary and two other shows have been renewed for a second season by CBS.
Final season averages: 1.44 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.82 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a couple weeks later.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Madam Secretary TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for season two?
I went in into this series not expecting too much BUT WOW!! Tea Leoni’s acting is beyond incredible. The supporting actors are engaging and add interest to mini arcs in every episode. The main arc of the show is panning out very well. Why why a hiatus..I want episode 12 now!!!
Love the show. Incredibly well-written and acted.
Love the show! Tea Leoni is fantastic and she has a great chemistry on screen with Tim Daly. The cast is intriguing and quirky which makes the show very sustainable! Hope it lasts a while!
I love this show.. I love that there is a character like Tia plays, who has one eye on her employers and the other eye on what’s right..
I Look forward to this show every week. Creative plots, clever dialogue, interesting characters. Along with “Elementery” they’re the best programs on network TV.
Great series well done very little blood guts goar sex and bad langauge which is very unusual for so many of the media presentations of the day. Please continue the series
Mty husband and I LOVE this show! We look forward to it every week!
Love the show!!! Please don’t cancel what is fast becoming one of the most well-written shows since West Wing!
This is one of the best written shows on line…. So tired of the stupid comedy shows like 2-1/2 men, the MIllers, Two Broke Girls, do I need to go on??
It seems like every time there is a show that contains intelligent, thought provoking, well acted scripts, the general population ignores it as not “Entertaining” enough… It is a sad commentary that shows regarding reality can get higher ratings.
Lets hope this show can continue so that people who appreciate better programming can have a few things worth watching.
My husband and I enjoy the show and would like it to be continued
My husband and I simply love the show!!
My husband and I love the show and look forward to it every Sunday night . We find it and entertaining and harmless way to relax on Sunday night. We both strongly urge CBS to keep it on the air.
love the show! Keep it going! Things DO get better with time! This show is getting better all the time!
I love this show!!!
Greatest show out there right now! Love it! Smart, strong woman – who is able to manage job and family. Tia is the perfect Secretary of State – wish she actually was running the department for real.
Excellent show – writing, content, plots!
I’m hooked.
Great show! Fast becoming my favorite!
