As a rule, FX TV series don’t get the kind of ratings broadcast network shows do, but Sons of Anarchy was one of the cable network’s best-performing dramas. Now they’ve introduced a spin-off, the Mayans MC TV show. Can this new series entice the original audience to return and even draw in some new viewers? Will Mayans MC be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
An FX drama, Mayans MC stars JD Pardo, Clayton Cardenas, Edward James Olmos, Sarah Bolger, Michael Irby, Carla Baratta, Antonio Jaramillo, Raoul Max Trujillo, Richard Cabral and Danny Pino. Recurring guest stars in the first season include Emilio Rivera, Frankie Loyal, Joseph Lucero, Vincent Rocco Vargas, Maurice Compte, Gino Vento, Tony Plana, and Ada Maris. This next chapter in Kurt Sutter’s saga centers on Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes (Pardo), who is fresh out of prison and a prospect in the Mayans M.C. charter on the Cali/Mexi border. Now, EZ must carve out his new identity in a town where he was once the golden boy whose sights were set on the American Dream.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Cable ratings are typically released within a day or so of the show’s airing, except for in the case of weekends and holidays. They are sometimes harder to come by so there may be occasional delays or gaps.
What do you think? Do you like the Mayans MC TV show? Should this FX TV series be cancelled or renewed for season two?
10/1/18 update: FX has renewed Mayans MC for a second season. Details here.
I think Mayans MC is an excellent show ,Kurts Sutter is amazing. I was disappointed to see the sons go off the air now with this new show I still feel like it gives us a pieces of them with a new twist and a new storyline
I like it and it’s better than most other series. I also liked the sons. I hope it will continue.
I agree with some of the comments…it’s just not as good as Sons, but I stuck with it through all ten episodes…I could’ve done with a few of the episodes being a lot shorter…hard sometimes to want to sit through an hour and 10 minutes of a show that’s not that good.
I didn’t like it at first but its grown on me, I first found ez to be kind of a boring character and not understanding other characters names or what office they hold in the club can get a little annoying sometimes, but I’m liking the story so far, every episode I get more and more invested into it, I hope it continues to get better and there is a season 2
I really liked SOA and I couldn’t wait for the Mayas MC series. I sometimes have a hard time following the script but I watch it twice ( once in awhile) to understand what’s going on. I don’t mind them switching from English to Spanish & just read the translation! I think it makes the series more original. There’s too much criticism on the language ?? I love all the parts with JD Pardo “EZZY” have !! He should grow when & if this show expires! He is “HOT”.
Hands down has to be one of the worst shows I’ve watched. I’ve stuck around this far and always wonder why after school episode I’m still watching. Kurt Sutter has so much talent so I hope holding out will pay off, but I don’t imagine I’ll be around for much longer! Storyline and action is weak. Not easy to follow and I don’t care for the subtitles!
Was excited about a new series on FX..avid follower of SOA and anticipated another hit out of Sutter. Sadly..Mayans not holding up to standards for us. Dont like watching foreign films..so cant handle the subtitles. Have yet to figure out solid plot..moves too slow, very confusing storyline. I made it through 2 episodes and part of the 3rd, and I’m done. Nothing to hold my interest at all. Very disappointed. Will continue to watch mt SOA dvds! Mayans definitely off my list.
I do love it… I think its moving a little slow.
Love this show! So glad to a have a great new cable show because in general the Fall line-up stinks on the networks this year.
I was a die-hard fan of SOA and was greatly looking forward to Mayans; unfortunately, after watching 3 episodes, I doubt it will last more than one season. Main issues: (1) disjointed plot development; (2) difficult to follow who is who; (3) overuse of gory punishment/torture scenes (yes that was a part of SOA but this show dwells on it); (4) can’t get over that Edward James Olmos’ character is an older version of his Miami Vice character–dark, brooding, and mumbling his way through the scenes; (5) amazingly bad acting with most of the characters–seems like they are just going… Read more »
YEP! What Zshe said – EVERYTHING she said!
Don’t Leave B4 the Miracle Happens!! Stick Around for Mayans… Kurt Sutter is theeeee BEST. Watch & See!
Loved SOA was really looking forward to myans
Got through the first and about 10 mins of the second. And we’re done
It’s very disappointing don’t like foreign language shows and sure don’t like subtitles. And there definitely isn’t anyone near Jax’s sex appeal. So not watching it anymore.
So far, so good. Who knew the life of an outlaw biker was so complicated? But if Sutter keeps including his gargoyle wife, I may have to bail.
We really loved watching Sons of Anarchy and very disappointed when it was cancelled. We were excited when FX was introducing a new series, The Mayans, but very disappointed. We don’t like watching silent movies or foreign movies because we don’t like to have to read subtitles. If things don’t change won’t be watching a second season.
i agree. Seems like there’s no tension on mayans like soa. i’ve watched it but will probably cut it off next week. likeed seeing e.j. olmos again
I thought it was very good. Keep the show.
