CBS hasn’t announced that Medium has been cancelled but, while attending an event last weekend, Patricia Arquette said that the show will indeed be ending this season.
Like her character, series star Arquette can indeed see the future. Now, Medium creator Glenn Gordon Caron has confirmed that the drama is finished. Of the last episode, Caron wrote, “Allison Dubois will dream her last dream on Medium Friday, January 21st. In what we believe will be a series defining episode, Allison and her family will stare destiny in the eye. And destiny will not blink.”
The ratings for Medium have taken a real hit this season. Despite frequently winning its timeslot, the drama has averaged a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.41 million viewers. CBS reduced the number of episodes to just 13 as a result.
What do you think? How would you like to see Medium end? Should some of the characters die or should Allison lose her abilities? How about Joe and Allison finally getting a good night’s sleep?

I am shocked!! Why do they cancel the good shows? I (and my family) would wait for each new episode. What a bummer.
nono nonono…..why ….it is the only show I watch every week…..why why
I found out today from our local newspaper that Medium has been cancelled. My family and I have watched this show from day 1. PLEASE consider leaving this show on the air, CBS executives. This show has a real following. Do you think you’re going to replace it with something that will generate higher numbers? No more reality shows, please! Disappointed just doesn’t cover it.
Medium is the best show on the air. I love this show and have fallen in love with the characters!!! Watching the girls grow up and the incredible husband she has!!! Each show has a different theme and amazing endings. Tragic it would be over… Honestly, who would give this show bad ratings?!!
I am so bummed. There are so very few shows nowadays that are watchable. As other posters have stated, all the shows lately seem to be trying to out-gross each other with gore, or they’re one of those idiotic (IMHO) competetive/reality shows. Medium gave us drama without gore, escapism with enough family realism to make it believable. I always looked doubly forward to Friday nights. One, because it was Friday and the start of the weekend, and two because of Medium. How sad that the network is so short-sighted that it cancels one of the handful of quality shows on… Read more »
We are very disappointed that CBS is cancelling Medium — it is and has been one of the best shows on television – always creative. Its move to Friday night only made it better. CBS give Medium a chance on Friday nights — there’s nothing like a psychological thriller to start the weekend
I can’t believe that Medium is being canceled. This year has been so hap-hazard when it was aired it is not wonder the ratings are down. You need to put it on in a later time slot and at least have it played more than once every few weeks so people can follow it. It record it and my daughter and I never miss it. It is such a fresh show each week. I am sad to see it go.
I’ve been watching the Medium since the first show. I think CBS is losing it’s viewership by making poor decisions. Are there any professionals working at CBS anymore? CBS fired Dan Rather, Big Mistake! Lost my rating for evening news. They fired the anchors on their morning show – lost my ratings. CBS canceled Guiding Light (an historical soap, the very first soap ever, actually started on radio) – lost my ratings. CBS canceled the Medium – lost my ratings. For decades, CBS was the only channel I watched for quality news and entertainment. CBS has canceled other quality shows… Read more »
I always thought I was psychic until I heard they were canceling the show before I dreamed it. This psy chic didn’t see it coming. I am bummed out and I am going to boycott CBS.
I am so sick and tired of autopsy’s.
This is the best show on TV and should not be canceled!!!! There is so much junk on TV, this series has been fabulous, great stories, and the actors are so wonderful. Love the children, great watching them grow up. CBS please do not cancel this show!!!
Recently learned of the CBS Decision to cancel this series. I feel like they missed the mark with their decision. I found this series to be well done and far better than the majority of network programs currently out there. Perhaps another network with better vision will see the value and revive the series. CBS has made a mistake. Too bad.
Medium is my favorite TV program. I am fed up with TV programs that need to appeal to a younger market in order to remain on air. If CBS doesn’t need an older audience they won’t miss me.
I totally agree with Jrsygrl and Anon. This is a great show. How does this get cancelled and that crap CSI Miami–the worst show/acting on the air–(not the other CSI shows) stay on? Who decides these things? And who is part of the Neilson ratings? Nobody I know.
I’m just bummed out about this! Why are the good shows cancelled while all the crappy sh** stays on? No more CBS for me.
This came as a surprise to me. I’m so pissed at CBS. Medium is one of the few watchable shows on network TV these days. No loud sound effects, gory autopsies, x-rated dialogue, cursing, inane laugh tracks, reality show airheads, etc. It was the one show that I made a point to never miss. When I was growing up television was often referred to as a “wasteland”. Nowadays it truly is!
