ABC Family is breaking up with Melissa & Joey. The cable channel has cancelled the sitcom after four seasons.
On Melissa & Joey, up-and-coming local politician Melanie Burke (Melissa Joan Hart) hires recently divorced commodities broker Joe Longo (Joey Lawrence) as a nanny for her niece and nephew (Taylor Spreitler and Nick Robinson). Mel and Joe eventually fell in love and in season three, they were married.
The cast and crew are still filming the show’s fourth season and will wrap next week. A statement from ABC Family notes “The comedy will conclude its storyline at the end of the fourth season, to air later this summer.”
ABC Family’s new Executive Vide-President of Programming and Development, Karey Burke, said, “We are proud of the milestones Melissa & Joey has achieved, being the network’s first sitcom to reach 100 episodes and the network’s first comedy to win a People’s Choice Award… Now that the kids are grown and Mel and Joe have married and are looking towards starting a family, it seemed like a natural time to bring the series to a close. We are grateful to (stars) Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence and the whole cast and crew who worked so hard on this successful show.”
By the time, the series comes to an end, more than 100 episodes of Melissa & Joey will have been produced. The 100th installment, which airs March 18th, will serve as the mid-season finale.
What do you think? Do you like the Melissa & Joey TV show? Do you think that it should be ending or would you have watched a fifth season?
Bring it back !!!
It was a great show
I would love them to bring back Melissa and Joey, I love to laugh and at this time in our lives we need laughter
Definitely make more seasons! Love the show and would love to see Mel and Joe raise their kids!!
Make a 5th season, I would watch it. It decent with some good values and hope finding love it good not have a show that doesn’t promote vilance good fun family show it hard to find that and be entertained
I think they should have made a fifth sixth and so on seasons of the show I hate when there is a good show and they just cut it off
This sitcom was one of the good ones! I’m sorry to see it won’t be coming back for a fifth season. I would have watched it! I just had to find out why when Baby Daddy came back on, I didn’t see Melissa & Joey. I was looking forward to watching their own family unfold. It was one of the few shows my husband and I like to watch together.
This was one of the best shows on TV, but as usual, all the good shows are cancelled while the crappy s–t is kept on running. I would watch another 50 episodes if they were available. One really has to wonder who the Morons are who come up with these decisions at the networks.
