TNT is reportedly close to a sealing a deal to renew Memphis Beat for a second season. The cable channel previously gave a renewal to fellow freshman drama Rizzoli and Isles.
Memphis Beat follows a detective (Jason Lee) in Memphis who happens to moonlight as an Elvis impersonator. The cast includes Abraham Benrubi, Alfre Woodard, Celia Weston, DJ Qualls, Leonard Earl Howze, Robyn Lively, and Sam Hennings.
The series debuted on June 22nd to a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.33 million viewers. The numbers came down a bit after that and the 10 episode first season has averaged a 0.8 in the demo and about 3.6 million viewers. The season concluded on August 24th.

My husband and I, BOTH SENIORS, LOVE this show and hope it does come back. And AawwYeahh…..quit whining….if you don’t like it, don’t watch it. Looks like you are outnumbered on this one!!!
Ok this show is horrible! I am a native memphian and they shot the majority of the show in New Orleans, hell they can’t even get the locale or accents right. No it does not deserve to be renewed and the storylines are pretty weak as well!

I enjoyed this program. I’m 71, was not an avid Elvis fan in my youth, but did enjoy some of his recordings. I got envolved in the story lines of Memphis Beat and the actors seem to me to be well cast.

This is a great show and I love the singing at the end… The stories are great. Please don’t cancel this show. It reaqlly deserves another chance. The cast is great.

This is a phenomenal Show. Great characters, great acting and a real feel good show. I love the beginning with an Elvis Song and I love the end with Jason Lee singing. EXCELLENT. I really hope Memphis will be back in 2011.
