At the start of the season, we wondered which new NBC medical drama had the best chance at survival — Mercy or Trauma. It was hard to decide but now, they’ve both been cancelled anyway.
Mercy follows the lives of three very different nurses at Mercy Hospital in Jersey City. The cast includes Taylor Schilling, Jaime Lee Kirchner, Michelle Trachtenberg, James Tupper, Diego Klattenhoff, Guillermo Diaz, James LeGros, James Van Der Beek, and Delroy Lindo.
The medical drama got off to a pretty poor start last September, attracting a 2.3 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 8.25 million total viewers. Unfortunately, viewership fell even lower from there.
Despite the ratings, NBC ordered a full season of episodes, likely because the network needed the original programming. Though NBC’s Primetime Entertainment President Angela Bromstad said she liked the show creatively, she noted that the show’s ratings had to improve for it to survive.
The ratings didn’t improve. The most recent episode attracted only a 1.1 rating in the demo and 4.01 million viewers.
To no surprise, the Mercy TV show’s now been cancelled. The 22nd and final episode aired last Wednesday, May 12th. Unfortunately, it wasn’t intended to be a series finale and didn’t wrap up the show.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Mercy won’t be back for season two? What would you have liked to have seen happen?

I recorded this on dvr and looked forward to and watched it every single week. Ive been waiting and waiting and waiting for it to continue and it never did so I decided to scope it out and I CAN’T BELIEVE it’s cancelled. I’m so so upset it was my favorite, it’s so ridiculous all the stupid crap on television and one if the very greatest gets cancelled. I say BRING IT BACK!!!!!!
I just watched mercy on Netflix and I fell in love. I am so mad there wasn’t a season 2. I wish that they would atleast do a season 2 to wrap everything up so we can find out what happened to everyone. They don’t even have to put it one tv just Netflix .
This is a case where THAT MANY PEOPLE WERE WRONG. The show is too amazing for words, dunno how it missed the mark with viewers. Acting, original plots, element of surprise, it was all perfection. I’m about to watch Ep. 22 on Netflix and I am already dreading it because that means this is the end. :'(
OMG I cant believe that there us not going to be another year of mercy. 🙁 seriously im in alot of suspense its killing me ….. come on people rally for more mercy!!!!
Can’t believe the show was canceled just like that! Thats wrong.
This really sucks I loved this series PLEASE BRING IT BACK
This show should not be cancelled! I just watched it all on netflix and loved it! It is way better than all the million stupid reality shows that are coming out now. Good medical dramas have always been popular. They should have given this show more time or more advertisement or something. I had never heard of it before I found it on Netflix.
Would love to see a season two, loved watching Mercy and I am REAL disappointed there in no season two.
Sorry to hear this one was cancelled. I loved this show. Great characters and story line. I don’t think they gave it enough time to catch on. With all the junk on T.V. it makes me angry to see the good ones just disappear.
I also just watched Season 1 on Netflix and I’m also upset that there is no season 2, nothing leaving you in suspense, the ending of episode 22 left everything up in the air! I, personally, think that TV is frustrating anymore, the stupidest shows continue on and all the good ones get cancelled…. how does this keep happening????
This was one of my favorite shows, I can’t believe they cancelled it! Trauma was another very good show, much better than a sitcom that there are tons of those to watch! Bring back Mercy and Trauma!!!
My mom, sister, and I watched all of them when they first came out and always rewatch them on netflix. We are so curious about what happened to the characters. More Mercy!!
I absolutely loved this show. It was so creative and witty. I love the characters. PLEASE bring it back!
We watched the first season on Netflicks and found it to be compelling. Good story, good acting and we were looking forward to year 2. Don’t understand why folks would prefer to watch yet another reality boredom show than something like this.
I just watched the first season of Mercy on Netflix, and I fell in love with it. I’m SO mad to hear that it was cancelled. Especially with episode 22 ending it. There should definitely be more! And soon!
