At the start of the season, we wondered which new NBC medical drama had the best chance at survival — Mercy or Trauma. It was hard to decide but now, they’ve both been cancelled anyway.
Mercy follows the lives of three very different nurses at Mercy Hospital in Jersey City. The cast includes Taylor Schilling, Jaime Lee Kirchner, Michelle Trachtenberg, James Tupper, Diego Klattenhoff, Guillermo Diaz, James LeGros, James Van Der Beek, and Delroy Lindo.
The medical drama got off to a pretty poor start last September, attracting a 2.3 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 8.25 million total viewers. Unfortunately, viewership fell even lower from there.
Despite the ratings, NBC ordered a full season of episodes, likely because the network needed the original programming. Though NBC’s Primetime Entertainment President Angela Bromstad said she liked the show creatively, she noted that the show’s ratings had to improve for it to survive.
The ratings didn’t improve. The most recent episode attracted only a 1.1 rating in the demo and 4.01 million viewers.
To no surprise, the Mercy TV show’s now been cancelled. The 22nd and final episode aired last Wednesday, May 12th. Unfortunately, it wasn’t intended to be a series finale and didn’t wrap up the show.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Mercy won’t be back for season two? What would you have liked to have seen happen?

I am very disappointed that Mercy & Trauma were cancelled, what a waste – they were great shows. I think this rating system is so outdated. I just started watching more network TV in the past couple of years and now over half the shows I watched are cancelled already!!
I agree totally………………………………………………………..
The least the network can do is give us some closure.
I mean, that last episode was one heck of a cliff hanger.
Irritating.
Mercy was a great show!! Please please, NO more reality shows! There are people out there that can follow a story weekly!!
No ****…… I agree
NBC is foolish to cancel Mercy!!! It is a great show and I think ratings are overrated. I have seen comments on several websites and not seen ANYONE who is happy Mercy got cancelled. Don’t just look at ratings!!!!
Please continue this show. What a great drama involving nurses and real life. NBC had better wake up to what sells.
This was a good show. They didn’t give it the time or the publicity to make it work. Good acting and good stories. It would be nice if one of the non network channels picked it up. Lately I watch TNT, USA and AMC more than the network channels.
After reading most of the previous comments,I must agree. My sister & I were huge fans of Mercy,& became concerned because we hadn’t heard anything about a new season,so I decided to google for more info. We are so disapointed,we feel that same as so many others who have complained about being forced to have to endure these REDICULOUS (cheap to produce) “REALITY” shows,& bad sitcoms, which I refuse to watch.Mercy was a great show, what ashame.Take notice NBC,ABC & CBS, there are still alot of intelligent viewers out here,& we ‘re getting FED UP!!!!!
NBC, WHAT FOOLS! Loved the show and feel
so much more could be developed with those
characters. Loved the premise, loved the actors.
So sad.
Pour une fois écoutés les français et faites une deuxième saison de cette série que j’ai adoré. Merci
I am so disappointed that Mercy has been cancelled, I thought it was great, to me it was a replacement for ER, the story lines from the nurses side of things instead of always focusing on the doctors. I think if you had of given it a chance it could have been just as popular as ER. The characters were great and so were the story lines.
i am really upset that this has been cancelled it was an excellant show and needs another season you just cant end it like that then expect more people to watch ur tv shows this is total crap and i think you need to look at the fans of mercy
I am so sick and tired of shows being cancelled. The networks spend MILLIONS creating these shows..and next to NO $$ to market the show. How do you expect to get the viewers if they don’t know that the show is even there??? Instead the networks spend the money advertising REALITY TV shows..which I have had it up to my babooshka with those. If people knew that Mercy existed I’m sure you would’ve had the ratings that you so desire. You know I might give up watching TV altogether..it’s just one big disappointment after another when you get into a… Read more »
I agree! I found it by accident and loved it!

How can mercy not come back?? I loved it! So disappointed!!
I am so mad that this show has been cancelled.Me and a few of my friends are very upset. It a really good show its getting better every week.
S’il vous plait, n’annulez pas Mercy. Cette série est si fraiche et enrichissante : elle donne tellement à réfléchir sur le milieu hospitalier, la guerre en Irak… S’il vous plait, donnez lui une seconde chance!
