The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.

And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Miami Medical’s been cancelled or should it have been pulled awhile ago?

I don’t understand why cancel the show, its interesting and true to life. Its about time we had a good medical drama on the air, especially on Friday nights . They get you hook and then cancel them .
Seems to me like Miami Medical has a lot of potential. Some of the dialog is a little cheesy at times but I think the cast bonded and came together much more quickly than in most series. I’d like to see it continue. What I’m not interested in – at all – is another 2-bit sitcom….
What the hell is wrong with CBS they are taking all of my shows a away. As the World Turns Miami Medical cold case and WHY!!!!!!! They should let the viewers have a say. I will not watch CBS anymore once all my shows are gone we all need to stop watching CBS
I agree this is stupid they are taking all of the good shows off the air; cold case, medium, ghost whisper, and now miami medical I don’t understand, I also agree that the veiwers should have a say in this aswell.
I am deeply disappointed that they are canceling GW, Miami Medical and Old Christine just to name a few. I looked forward to watching them on friday evenings (GW+MM) and many others. Like a comfortable pair of shoes. I Don’t know who is making these bad decisions but they need to re-think these shows because i believe they have a tremendous fan following and will deeply disappoint all of us. Maybe they could cancel
this guys job huh?????????? and replace him with someone who has a better pulse on what viewers want to see!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Suzzie
I don’t get it. It cost millions to develop a new series. CBS gets a very good actor in Jeremy Northam, a young hunk Mike Vogel and two alluring actresses, at least one of which is bound to appeal to segments of the male audience. Then you start the show in April, following a line up including one soon to be cancelled show and another that was cancelled and resurrected from another network. You run five episodes with little or no advertising and expect it to catch on. What am I missing? Is the quick draw shooting them in the… Read more »
This is a great show. The network doomed it from the beginning by putting it on Friday night at 10:00. The younger crowd is all out on the town, and the older folks are going to bed. I love it and would love to see it get a second chance in a better time slot.
What a poor decision. This show was well worth watching but stuck in a deathly time slot at Friday, 10 PM, with absolutely no publicity. I’d have loved to have seen this show in a 9 or 10 PM slot on a weekday, or pushed a bit in a Friday or Saturday slot. I only stumbled across the show by accident due to its lead-in and have become quite attached to it in a very short time – why CBS cancels an engaging show while pushing tripe in its prime slots is beyond me.
I’m sick of CBS cancelling shows that have good story lines. Medical drama’s are interesting & action packed. First Three Rivers and now Miami Medical. And, I must mention the fact that they are cancelling good comedy shows as well. Gary Unmarried and New Adv. of Old Christine will be missed. I’m disappointed in CBS and a few other networks, it’s all about the money and not about the Fans/Viewers!
It was hard to say goodbye to ER and now again to say goodbye to Miami Medical. Please don’t cut it.
Really hate to see this show get canceled like this. It’s a great show to watch . It’s an exciting show compared to others. Great characters and great drama. What more does CBS need on a Friday Night? I hope some other station decides to pick it up or just go viral on the ‘net. I’ll watch it on there.
I really hated to see Numbers go off the air, but fiquired it was leaving with the way it ended, however I really have enjoyed watching miami medical and am really upset that it has been taken off the air–i am really going to miss it–it has been really a good show and i hope that someone else will pick it up–with the way cbs is pulling off its friday night line up–i will be looking for another station to watch on friday nights.
should have given it a longer shot….ther’ve been lots of crappier medical shows like: CHICAGO HOPE that stayed around longer!!!
Another good show canceled. And by CBS?? I must say I’m surprised and not surprised. On one hand a lot of good shows are getting canceled, but on the other by CBS? They had a great track record. But for some reason they canceled a few good shows. Gary unmarried, Numb3rs, Miami medical, The new adventures of old Christine to name a few. I don’t get it. Why they cancel these shows. And few bad signs moving the shows around the schedule. Like CSI Miami and CSI NY. Whats going on? Is this a death threat? Moving things around now?… Read more »
First they take off “Three Rivers”, and now this. Why? These shows were interesting and showed us how life really is. People would rather watch “Reality Shows”, that make the people look like idiots, and teach the kids, to lie, cheat, and stab someone in the back to win money. What are we teaching our children? Maybe they need to know that there is a place where you can be saved by someone else donating one of their organs, and maybe they in turn will donate one of their organs to save someones life. Or maybe they’ll learn that a… Read more »
I totally agree… CBS needs to stop canceling great shows like Miami Medical, Mercy, Trauma, and on and on, it’s getting ridiculous!!!! I like some of the Reality shows but I’m so sick of the shows CBS and the other networks keep on tv, teaching kids how to become disgusting human beings!! These three tv shows at least showed kids that they can grow up to become decent human beings… CBS stop corrupting the kids of our future!
love the show…just missed out at the beginning
