The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.

And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Miami Medical’s been cancelled or should it have been pulled awhile ago?

Finally, we get a really great medical show that is different from previous medical series
and they pull the plug. The cast is great, the stories are amazing and different. I am getting tired of getting into really good shows and then they axe them. What is their problem?
i loved the show, and am sorry it got cancelled.maybe if it got moved to sunday nights with
csi miami next season,it would find an audience instead of the complete ghosttown audience at 10 pm on friday night.cbs is great at killing shows before they run by putting them at the time slot.should’nt be a shock that it got canceled!
My husband and I think that Miami Medical is a great show, please, please keep the show on, give it more time for others to catch on, I think CBS has a great show here, don’t pull the plug when people are just realizing it’s on and it’s a great show!!
CBS needs to pull their heads out of the sand, and look around. Miami Medical is doing good with out all the hype that other shows get, and if it was on one hour earlier on the west coast it would be perfect. I wait all week and stay up late just to watch the show on friday. If Miami Medical wasn’t on anymore there is no reason to even turn the TV on on friday nights, these nothing else on to watch.
Finally a decent medical show that deals with medicine and patients and it gets cancelled. All this while Grey’s anatomy continues. Miami was a pretty good show by most standards and it had none of the stupidity and drama of Greys anatomy. GA has a collection of the most immature, incompetent and irresponsible “doctors” on TV. Miami medical is a decent show with a good cast and it actually works.
This show is amazing! I just posted a comment on the other article (Cancel or Keep it) saying how great this show is and what a stupid and huge mistake CBS is making for cancelling it. I made a lot of points in that post so I didn’t feel like rehashing all the same stuff, but check it out if you’re interested. Hopefully someone from CBS is reading this and all of the other posts that clearly demonstrate that the general consensus is that people REALLY enjoy this fantastic show and want it to stay. PLEASE BRING THIS SHOW BACK!… Read more »
I really like miami medical it is so hard to find a good show anymore the the tv and i finally found one that i liked again and i find out that it is going to be taken off the air after just one season. It seems as if that happens everytime i find a new show I like anymore.
I love this show! I would really like to see it continue. It seems most my favorite shows are now done, so no more watching CBS for me! Unless of course they bring back Miami Medical.
this is a great show. why do they (the tv heads) keep cancelling all the good shows and keep the crappy ones. i love the actors of this series bring them back and air all the episodes
I am upset the Miami Medical is being cancelled. I have not seen a medical show like this since ER ended, and I am really upset to see it go and all the other shows that CBS is cancelling.
very disapointed that both Miami Medical and Numbers3 cancelled. These were both interesting, intruiging and awesome programs. The casts were awesome together. It seems the only programs you cancel are the good ones. If you continue to cancel to cancel the good programs then I just won’t have a reason to watch CBS anymore.
I love this show. Why do they keep giving us good medical shows then taking them away?
Miami Medical is a good show and should not be cancelled. If I can’t watch the show live I tape and watch later. Why do they keep the stupid reality shows and get rid of the good ones. Maybe if they put Miami Medical in Medium (which I hate) time slot more people would watch. I really like the cast and story lines.
Yet another great medical show biting the dust. They don’t give them a chance, and I am sick of this “too expensive to produce” load of bull they shoot at us. That’s why we sit thru commercials!!! Bruckheimer makes good stuff — yet they wouldn’t even give this medical show a reasonable chance. Too bad none of these shows can be picked up by cable. USA Network….TNT…..Lifetime…. to name a few. Not all of us want to watch reality shows just because they are cheap to make. They need to give viewers time to care about the characters….like Grey’s Anatomy….… Read more »
I love the show. I didn’t start watching until the 3rd episode but I’ve seen every one since. I am really hoping that CBS reconsiders and moves the show to a better time where it will attract more viewers. I guarantee that whatever they’re thinking of replacing it with is going to be horrible. Replacements always are. Let the show continue on!
