The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.

And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Miami Medical’s been cancelled or should it have been pulled awhile ago?

It was a good show and CBS should have stayed with it.. Not very smart…
This show was so much better that the new one Boston Medical. That has no plot at all.
Unreal. Three rivers definitely sucked, but this was a good solid show with a good storyline. I’m with others, try a different night or something. ABC wanted to cancel Castle but gave it a chance and now it’s really taking off. I hate to see this show come to an end.
PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL THIS GREAT SHOW!
THIS IS THE ONE OF THE ONLY SHOWS THAT IS AS TRUE TO THE REAL HAPPENINGS AT A HOSPITAL. What a shame that CBS does not realize that they have a show with so much promise.
Oh, come on! It was the first medical show that didn’t have everyone sleeping with each other and actually had some interesting medical issues. Frankly, I wouldn’t go to Seattle Grace if I were o n my deathbed! Why doesn’t CBS try this on another night? The characters were finally worth watching. Give them a break!
Miami Medical was the only thing worth watching on Friday night. It should have been moved to another night to give it a chance. I looked forward to that show every week.
grrr how could they cancel this? this is the only show other than House that I have ever liked enough to watch every episode and they cancel it. why are the canceling – there are plenty of worse shows out there
SHOCKED to see it was cancelled!! We need a good medical drama on TV now with ER gone! Thought for sure Bruckheimer could pull it off!! I think they should have given it a little longer to catch on with others. Boston Med is good…but too much like’ Life in the ER’. Please try again Mr Bruckheimer!
I thought the show was great and I really liked the cast. I also agree with other comments that it was nice to have a medical drama that did not center on who was sleeping with who. now it seems we are stuck with the basic brainless garbage that passes for TV viewing on most networks, and witless comedies that only hormone crazed dysfunctional adolescents and the brain dead could derive something intelligent out of. oh well guess its back to the discover channels bummer.
The administrators at CBS need major trauma surgery! They need their heads surgically removed from their rectums! I have downloaded and saved at least 105 positive comments about Miami Medical! What would their advertisers think if I forward all of these to them??? Instead of relying on Nielson Polls, wouldn’t it make more sense to announce regularly on CBS News, incidently, which EVERYBODY WATCHES, to take a viewer poll of our programs by going to CBS.com/viewerpoll??? Of course, that takes brains and when God passed out brains, these administrators thought He said ‘Trains’, and since they weren’t going anyplace, they… Read more »
really enjoyed this program and am devastated to see it cancelled. Now I am hooked and they cancel it . they didn’t give it a chance. also the time it came on was not good !
This was the highlight of Friday night shows. I cannot believe it is off the air! Can’t we get the network to reconsider?
My husband and I enjoyed watching Miami Medical. We rarely go out on Friday nights and were glad the network had Flashpoint and Miami Medical to watch. We understand they have cancelled this show and for the live of us we can’t understand why. Yes, we are over 49 and the networks keep forgetting there are others age group who watch TV. When we were between 18 and 49 we went out on the weekends and rarely stayed at home watching TV. I feel the networks need to reevaluate their audience.
My parents and my family all really enjoyed this program and were devastated to see it cancelled. We’ve been discussing how much we had enjoyed seeing a medical drama that didn’t spend much of the hour between the sheets. So fed up with the cancellations. I will say that I’m thrilled Mercy was cancelled. Did they ever actually do medical work on that show???
I didn’ t want to like this show as I was mad about losing Numb3rs. Now I am hooked and they cancel it . There is not anything good on now.
