The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.

And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.

What were you thinking CBS? I agree that this is probably the best medical show to date. I have many friends who work in the ER and trauma centers, and they all agreed that it finally showed everything, from good days to bad days. This show even dealt with things doctors deal with everyday that many of us never think about, for instance calling their first TOD (time of death) and showing how hard that is. AHHH! I cannot believe this show is being cancelled, at least air the rest of the episodes and give those couple million that did watch some closure! Do Chris and Ava get together?!?!

I don’t understand why they are cancelling this show. We watched Mercy-Trauma-Three Rivers- and Miami Medical and enjoyed all of them. I can’t believe that they have all been cancelled. Please give Miami Medical another chance!

I say bring it back!!! it was poorly advertised and I started viewing late as well!! Love the show!! CBS need to bring it back. If everyone here sent feedback on CBS’s website, enough responses and they will bring it back I am sure.
The show was great and it’s the best medical show to come along since ER. Unfortunately, like so many other great shows, the ratings are all that matter. A better time slot may have helped. I’m sorry to see it go. Loved the show and cast.
I am so sorry to hear that the show has been canceled. I was wondering why I couldn’t find in on TV. Now I have nothing to watch on Friday night because I don’t like Flashpoint. What were they thinking? It was such a great show. Never saw many previews advertising the show. I’m very disappointed, CBS has other shows that need to be canceled that would have given Miami Medical a much better time slot. Come on CBS, bring Miami Medical back!!!!!
Miami Medical finally made emergency medicine and trauma human, interesting, exciting and great entertainment. One of the best shows on TV on a major channel. What idiocy to let it go.
Please bring Miami Medical back for another try.
I also can’t believe the show Miami Medical was cancelled after only being on the air for a few months. I only discovered it about three weeks ago and I instantly loved it after the first show I saw. The actors were great and the stories very believable. It was very refreshing to see a medical drama with doctors who weren’t concerned about their own personal lives and problems but who were very concerned about their patients. Fools. This was a well written show with a apealing cast. Not the last bit predictable. And to think that the original CSI is still on(same good cast, lousy writting the last few years). Not much around I would really miss, but Miami Medical I will.
CBS please bring Miami Medical back. It was the best show on TV. I am as sorry to see it cancelled as I was to see 24 end. Great cast and terrific episodes. Try ANYTHING but bring it back!!!
A better time slot that Friday at 9 might give you better numbers in the 18 – 49 demographic. I think they should have tried a new timeslot and see how well it would have done. I’m sure it would have done loads better than the timeslot they were given
