The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.

And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.

I am very annoyed with CBS. As a Canadian its always hard to find good shows to watch that are captivating and can fit into a persons time slot seeing as American Programming will never be consistent. The best medical shows to date would have to be House M.D, Grey’s Anatomy, ER, and MIAMI MEDICAL. CBS gets great shows then it decides to cancel it. I am very sorry to hear that the show was canceled. I think it was very truthfull as several friends of mine are trauma doctors and it was not exagerated a bit according to their stories of real life trauma care. I hope CBS will reconsider. I will miss this show each Friday night!

I only recently discovered this show, which means that CBS did a lousy job of promoting it. I found it to be very captivating. The characters and storylines drew me in. Come on, CBS, give your talent a chance!! This show should have been given more promotion, and a second season on a different night. Friday nights are not the best nights to grab an audience, after all. I will definitely enjoy the remaining new episodes, and perhaps someone at CBS will rethink this rash decision.
Why don’t we just cancel CBS?? They do a great job of canceling all of their shows anyway, what’s left?? Miami Medical was one of the best shows they had. Change the night, and time when people are home and it would do better, and put back online episodes! This show didn’t even have time to gain viewership, it was just starting to pull together and it was amazing! Shame on CBS!
I am sad to see Miami Medical pulled as I enjoyed every episode beginning with the Pilot. The show will be missed.
Can’t believe it, first they cancel Trauma and now Miami Medical!! Loved both shows. So few good dramas on the air – bring them back!! Only one other series that I will bother watching, so much crap on TV!
If they would have put it on at a time when people where home me and my girls had to watch it online due to the fact we work friday nights. it had become a weekend thing where we dug around on line till we found it so we could watch. Now what are we going to do on sundays while the guys are fishing CBS this is stupid!!!!!!
What happens when there is a lot of interest in a show that WAS OBVIOUSLY CANCELLED BEFORE ITS TIME!!! Is there a chance it will be brought back??? What about numbers and Trauma and Mercy etc. But I have not heard one negative thing about Miami Medical!! Do we have a say at all??? The fans?? I usually never write comments on shows but I had to this year they just went crazy this year cutting shows before they got started.
I posted a comment previously and have been viewing comments about Miami Medical for a few weeks and EVERY post I have read has been in favor of this excellent show. I have no idea why it was cancelled! The acting was excellent and I think it would have only gotten better as the cast got closer!! The stories great and interesting as well as medically believable. What the heck is wrong with CBS? Miami Medical isn’t ER, sure, but guess what? CBS didn’t budget for an ER-type show! Miami Medical has a great cast, interesting story lines, and brilliant writing. It was just getting its legs and capturing committed viewers when “they” pulled the plug. What idiots.
This is the best medical show to come on the air in a very long time. I really enjoy watching it. I think it should be moved to Thursday. I hope those Nielson Rating people read these comments and actually keep this show on!!!!!
Come on !!!!! One of the best shows on TV and they go and pull the plug. They should get rid of some of the stupid reality shows that are mindless like wipeout or flash forward we need some of the shows like Miami Medical that show real life
Not again!!! Everytime there is a good show on, it gets cancelled in favor of those dumb reality shows or some of the stupidest “comedy” shows I’ve ever seen. Who exactly is in charge of cancelling the good shows — a kindergardener???? Miami Medical is one of the best shows that has been on in a long time. Give it a chance — better advertising and a better time slot. No one ever asks the viewers what they think. All you people ever think about is the money you can put in your pockets because of “ratings”.
AGREED, this was one of the best new shows to air… What a shame I dont normally stay up that late to watch a tv show. But made the effort just to watch this one. Sorry to see it go. With all the other Friday nite shows cancelled, I guess I will no longer be watching CBS on Fridays.
