Last May, CBS announced a bold move, to take their hit The Big Bang Theory off of the Monday night schedule and shift it to Thursdays, to take on NBC’s traditional night of comedy. In its place, the programmers put another show co-created by Chuck Lorre, the creator of Two and a Half Men. On paper, it sounds like a brilliant move. Now that the Mike & Molly’s premiered, how do things look?
Mike & Molly follows Officer Mike Biggs (Billy Gardell) and Molly Flynn (Melissa McCarthy), a fourth grade teacher. They meet at an Overeaters Anonymous meeting and soon fall for one another. Others in the cast are Reno Wilson, Nyambi Nyambi, Katy Mixon, and Swoosie Kurtz.
The new sitcom debuted to a 3.9 rating in the prized 18-49 demographic and 12.2 million total viewers. That was enough to tie with NBC’s The Event for second place in the demo and have the second most number of viewers.

Historically, the CBS sitcoms who get the post-Two and a Half Men timeslot have done very well. CBS has high expectations however and has ended up cancelling several sitcoms that performed okay on this night. While the sitcom has good initial numbers, it’s not a positive sign that Mike & Molly lost 20% of the lead-in’s demo audience. Last year, Big Bang Theory was building on the lead-in and frequently outperformed Men in the demo.
There was a loss of about 7% of the audience midway through the Mike & Molly first episode so its seems likely those people won’t be back next week. It remains to be seen how many people will. This is a show whose fate will likely be decided over the next several weeks. Right now, things could go either way. Some critics and viewers have wondered how long it will be before the show runs out of material.

Show is boring, trying to carry a show on two grossly over weight people with fat jokes and lot.
I had high hopes for this show. That is until the mother and sister were introduced into the show. I am so sick of their filthy mouth. We all were looking for a good clean comedy that did not feel like they had to have trashy talk to be hit. I was offened at what I heard. please keep show going!!!! my husband and i love it! we fall off the couch laughing!!! this show is hysterical!!! i am also a fan of melissa since gilmore girls and samatha who.i have told all my friends to watch! the chemistry between mike and molly is great. the actors are perfect togeather. show is a hit as far as we are concerned!!!!!love it
I love Mike and Molly… I cant wait to see the show every week. It shows to people that you dont have to be really thin. LOVE IT!
Please keep this show on the air. I have watched every episode so far and find it to be one of the most enjoyable new shows of the season. I became a fan of Melissa’s when she was on “Gilmore Girls” and am so pleased to see her back on the air in her own series. Don’t let some small-minded people screw with this must watch show.
I hope you keep this show,my son and I watch this show all the time we both enjoy watching it.It is about time a show was done on every day people,not like other shows were people are made up to look like they are ready for a beauty contest.Love comes from all types of people.
1/3 of our nation is obese – that is a HUGE demographic (pun intended). You would be stupid not to tap that market.
PLEASE KEEP IT!!!!!! I don’t watch much T.V. any more, but I won’t miss this, if I can’t be in front of the T.V. I record it. This show makes me laugh, and feel good. I now have my husband and son watching we love it. PLEASE DON’T TAKE IT AWAY!!!!!!
This is one GREAT show. I only heard about it after that that writer who ever they were -lol-wrote they thought it was gross. I went online and have been watching the episodes..it is great. I have missed it on mondays because I am watching Dancing With The Stars..thats a lot of competition opposite that show. I am sure everyone else is as well. Watching it next week…LOVE Mike and Molly! This has to be the funniest show on TV this season. I tell everyone at work about it, and my husband and I laugh our butts off. Please don’t take it off the air. The writers are brilliant. Its a relief from reality tv.

My husband and I both like the Mike & Molly Show, the writers are great, all of the characters are funny, Mike’s partner, and his grandmother are hilarious. The joke lines just flow. This is a great show, and you don’t even notice that the characters are over weight, you get lost in their relationship, we are all different, no one is perfect in this world. This one is a keeper. I usually don’t watch network TV but a friend told me about this show so I checked it out. I only hate that I’ve missed the first few shows but I will get the DVDs when they come out. It is #1 on my DVR. This is the only show on network TV I watch.
I would diferently keep this show. It show kids and everyone that you don’t have to be perfect to be on tv or to do anything you put your mind to. I LOVE THIS SHOW! LOVE LOVE LOVE! I think they are a cute couple and I LOVE THEM!
