Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Missing has been cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed? How long should have the show realistically lasted — one season, two, three or more?

ABC missed the boat. Great to see an intelligent drama on network tv. How sad to see the mindless sitcoms and reality shows continue. Makes you wonder who was polled???
Very, very sorry there will not be another season. A great show that grabs you from the beginning and keeps your interest through the end. The acting was superb! As was the scenery! Just loved it and will sadly miss missing 🙁
We really liked the program and when mentioning it to folks, they were not aware of the program but when they watched, liked it. Perhaps needed more advertising.
I liked the program because it was different from all the rest of the TV programs. I could hardly wait for the next week’s edition. Good, good program and would watch again in a heart beat.
I am disappointed that missing is cancelled for season two. The show was exciting and a lot of action and suspense. Hope Abc network reconsiders.
We really enjoyed the show. Very disappointed it was cancelled! Ashley Judd is an extrordinary actor and the show was exciting. People just appreciate good tv shows anymore.
I meant don’t appeeciate good tv shows anymore.
VERY DISSAPPOINTED YOU CANCELED THIS SHOW-ILOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!
QUITE POSSIBLY….they polled the wrong demographic group?! It was smart, fairly intelligent, great acting…How about 50+ educated women? ABC is so moronic.
I dvr’d all the episodes and watched them all in 2 nights. This show was awesome! I got online to see when it started in the Fall and was bummed out that it was cancelled. Give it another chance!
I loved the show Missing, and I thought Ashley Judd was superb! So sad to see it end. 🙁
This show was great and should not have been cancelled. I am so tired of good shows being cancelled and you put on stupid shows that do not make you want to tune in the following week. Who ever is the deciding vote should be shot.
I LOVED this show. Everything about it was terrific, the story acting and the background.
Why does the stations never give a show to catch on… this was one of the best ABC has to offer and it is gone… boooo hoooo
I’m really upset and dissapointed that they cancelled the show Missing I really enjoyed watching it. Hope there will be more series because I just brought season 1 of this movie.
very disappointed! i loved this show! i was just online looking to see when it started back up again 🙁
I am so dissapointed… I really liked this show…It kept you on the edge all the time.
I’m really dissapointed that this series didn’t go further. I thought it was well written and both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed every episode. Of course we really enjoyed the acting as well. We were shaking our heads over some of the negative comments we read. Inormally don’t comment on these sites but really wanted to on this one.
