Over the weekend, CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler confirmed that the Three Rivers TV show had indeed been cancelled. Now that Alex O’Loughlin is finished with that series, does that mean that Moonlight will be coming back?
Moonlight follows private investigator and vampire Mick St. John (O’Loughlin) and Beth Turner (Sophia Myles), an Internet reporter. St. John saved Beth’s life as a child and the two develop a romantic relationship years later. Others in the series include Jason Dohring, Shannyn Sossamon, and Brian J. White
Though Moonlight had decent ratings and a devout group of followers, CBS decided to cancel the series after just one season. The network wanted to stay in business with O’Loughlin however and that eventually led to him being cast in Three Rivers.

While some Moonlight fans followed O’Loughlin to the new series, many didn’t. Some people who have posted to this site have said that they refused to watch Three Rivers in hopes that this would somehow convince/force CBS to revive Moonlight.
Now that Three Rivers has been officially cancelled, will Moonlight be back? While Tassler proudly takes credit for being ahead of the current vampire craze, she says that the network has no plans to revive the little-watched cult favorite.
Despite his show’s low ratings, Tassler does still believe in O’Loughlin’s talent and said, “We’re trying to find something for him.”

I want MOONLIGHT back no matter what. If Nina thinks everybody will watch H 5-0, I think she is sadly mistaken. I think she will have more than she bargained for. I WILL NOT WATCH CBS ANYMORE NINA. If she puts him in the show she will get what she gets. VSRRR forever!
It would appear to me that since Moonlight is still in the public eye and demand as much as it is for especially only having one season, that CBS, being the money hungry network that it is, they would jump at the chance of having it in their grip. Especially since “they were the first with the vampire on tv”, according to Nina T, and since they have learned that we Moonlight fans are not actor centric.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!!!!! BRING BACK MOONLIGHT! I SO LOVE THIS SHOW. MY GIRLFRIENDS AND I WOULD GET TOGETHER ON FRIDAY NIGHTS, AND WHEN MOONLIGHT CAME ON WE WOULD GO GIRL CRAZY!! OVER ALEX O AND THE REST OF THE CAST. CBS PLEASE BRING OUR ALEX, AND THE REST OF THE ORIGNAL CAST MEMBERS BACK. CBS YOU MUST LISTEN TO THE FANS, AND TO CONTINUE TO LISTEN TO THE FANS. I’m an old vampire romantic. Since the really old Dracula movies with Bella Lugosi, to Dark Shadows, to Night Stalker, to Moonlight and the Twilight series, I have always enjoyed the folklore and the struggle of the undead to keep their blood thirst at bay. Moonlight was a break from cops, lawyers, doctors and especially the dreaded reality shows.
I say bring back Moonlight! Some people think that if we didn’t ask for more Moonlight then we would jump into the “I’ll watch Alex in whatever he is in…”. They are so wrong . I only watch a show if I like the story and the characters , I never follow actors.I loved loved Moonlight. Three Rivers ,not interested, and this remake either. You need to bring back moonlight.. vampire craze is in right now and moonlight would be a good fit right .. I did also not watch three rivers as i am a moonlight fan.. why do nice light good humoured shows always get cancelled. Not all people like horror. if moonlight returns it needs to be the same characters.
I’m from the Netherlands and even we love it!!! We watched the season on the television and we’re facinated by it. We ordered the dvd box online and watched it allover again! We love the show and there has to come another season! I mean even here in Holland it’s a hitshow!!!
CBS STILL doesn’t get it! Everyone that watched Moonlight was not an Alex Fan!! I am a fan of the lovely and talented Sophia Myles. I’m sure others watched Moonlight for Jason or Shannyn. I didn’t watch Three Rivers because I’m not a fan of Alex’s, simple as that! Maybe, just maybe, most fans of Moonlight didn’t follow Alex to Three Rivers because they were not HIS fans, they were MOONLIGHT’S fans.

Moonlight was one of the best shows to come around in a long time. After seeing TV Guide channel interview Alex O’laughlin I was sure that CBS was going to order a second season. After all, Moonlight did pretty well considering the writers strike. It really did deserve a chance to find its audience. With all the crap on television, a series finally comes along with originality, romance, comedy and writing that made the show believable and the network cancels it. BRING BACK MOONLIGHT.

The problem with “Three Rivers”, for me at least, was the idea that some people had to die so that others might live. While real Dr.’s do miracles every day, watching what happens does not always translate into what I look for as entertainment.
I would prefer to see Alex in something more light hearted and with lots of romance. (And, sue me, I like his hair a bit longer. )
I wouldn’t especially favor another cop show. I usually prefer shows with less realism, like sci-fi or a bit of the supernatural.

Poor CBS! They had a gold mine but just didn’t see it; of course Moonlight could help them and give O’Loughlin a really good role.
I’m so dissapointed that another Alex O’Loughlin show was cancelled. As far as medical dramas go, 3 rivers was one of the most powerful and emotional. I hope CBS will reconsider since this was a terrible time slot, especially during football season.
I loved both show, problems are that 3 Rivers plots went no where, they could waste 9 years recycling storylines of heart, lung, and liver transplants and that poor guy from Africa would still stay around for the whole series without a new heart, but what more could they put in there that didnt look familiar? Moonlight was my favorite of the two shows, i love shows of good vampire detectives- Forever Knight and Angel reminds me most of this, but bringing a show back from the undead might not come though that easy, it may have worked for Family… Read more »
