TV show description:
This crime drama has a unique twist in that it doesn’t focus on who committed a crime, but why the crime was committed in the first place. As the mystery unfolds, winding between revealing flashbacks and present time, viewers navigate the twisted and complicated maze of each murder, solving the puzzle alongside the detectives, piecing together more of the mysterious connections that drove the killer to commit murder.
When a murder is committed, Detectives Angie Flynn (Kristin Lehman) and Oscar Vega (Louis Ferreira) are on the case, looking for clues that will lead them to the killer.
Sexy and feisty, Angie is a thirty-something single mom from the wrong side of the tracks who proves that appearances can be deceiving. Oscar is intelligent, thoughtful, methodical and confident. He comes from a wealthy family and turned his back on an expensive Harvard Divinity School education to join the police force (a change of heart from his initial choice of joining the priesthood).
Others on the homicide team are: Doctor Betty Rogers (Lauren Holly), a medical examiner with a quirky sense of humor that belies the grimness of her daily job. Staff Sergeant Boyd Bloom (Roger Cross), the Squad Room Supervisor who was sidelined from the streets a few years earlier by a bullet. Detective Brian Lucas (Brendan Penny), a young eager beaver detective and newlywed who’s eager to learn and is fascinated about the often grisly procedures.
Angie doesn’t suffer fools or authority figures lightly. At home, Angie only wants the best for her teenage son, Manny (Cameron Bright), who is one of the few things in life that she feels she did right. But as far as Manny’s concerned, being the son of a cop is not the easiest gig in the world.

What do you think? Do you like the Motive TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fifth season?
Love this show! Please don’t cancel. Just saw the season 2 fnale. I hope it is not the series finale.
I love this show! It has a different twist. I like seeing how the Victim and the Killer meet their fate. Please do not cancel!!
I really like this show I find it to be different and enjoy how they figure out how the murder came about and why, please don’t take it away.
Great show- should not be Cancelled!!!!
Love the show keep it coming!
Just started watching and love the premise. The acting is good and is one of the better cops & robbers show. Hope ABC decides to keep this one as it is a good show.
Love this show. Particularly Angie.
One of my favorite shows. Please do not cancel. RENEW, RENEW, RENEW
Enjoying Motive. A friend told me about it beginning of August and have been watching it since. Really enjoy it, especially Lauren Holly and Brendan Penny. Hope to see more episodes aired.
I turned off the show last night because the BACKGROUND effects is so LOUD I couldn’t hear what the actors are saying….. ABC seems to have a problem with that…….. It is an aggravation that I don’t need….. GOOD BYE MOTIVE….
Vicki, you should address all technical issues to ABC not the Motive discussion site, only because the TV show cannot address these issues only the network because they transmit the program. I hope you succeed.
I love your show, but why is it so DARK? It reminds me of CSI New York, which I don’t watch anymore because of the same thing. At times they are speaking but no faces only eyes. I have watched your show at several homes & each time the complaint is the same. Big Turn Off, but don’t cancel just fix it.
To Effie Pappas,
I don’t know what area you live in but it has to be with your tv reception because in Illinois, the show is not dark at all. Check with your satellite or cable carrier & if you only have digital, that depends on how far you live from the TV station.
It could also be in your tv settings. Have you tried changing the brightness or contrast? Just thought I would offer a few suggestions.
I lived in Miami &Georgia. No dish and brightness has been adjusted, but seems
like they are setting the mood. Notice CSI & CSI: Miami are bright colors, but not N.Y. This was noticed at different sets, homes, & states. TV’s. are flat screens. Thank you for the suggestion & will recheck since I DVR’d it.
The sound at times is an issue too. I am exhausted after I view the show by straining to view and hear. The mind is a great thing, it allows you to cope.
I enjoy the TV show Motive and suggest you NO NOT CANCEL IT.
I look forward to viewing the next episode, but am not sure when
the next one is scheduled.
I love Motive, hope it stays on and they don’t cancel it !!!!
i love motive i want it to stay on tv better than stupid shows like scrubs and stuff please renew the show……..like the glades and the killing………just as you realize its there its gone really advertising is so important now that there is nothing on tv best time to keep the show and bring the other two back…….really advertizing is soooooooooooo important for shows like this i really like the show
I feel the same way as dhernandez, please keep Motive, a good series plus The Killing is great!!!
LOVE the show. Please DO NOT cancel!!!
