Happy trails. ABC has cancelled Nashville after four seasons, Deadline reports.
The country music drama, which stars Hayden Panettiere and Connie Britton, is currently nearing the end of its fourth season.
The cancellation comes as a bit of a surprise. Only a few weeks ago, we reported new showrunners Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz were getting the writer’s room ready for season five and hopeful ABC would renew the series.
However, ratings have dropped over the course of the show’s fourth season. So far, Nashville is earning an average rating of .98 in the 18-49 demo and 4.221 million viewers. Comparatively, the third season averaged a 1.34 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.16 million total viewers.
The season four, and now series, finale of Nashville airs on May 25th.

Please keep Nashville on TV!!!!!! I download every song after each episode the show is hands down the best on TV!!!! I can’t believe shows like NCIS, Supernatural and Castle can stay on for years…. But not this show. C’mon… Give it at least one more year!!!!!!!

My all time favorite show. I absolutely love this show and feel like different time slots, different nights should have been tried before canceling. Only one of two shows that I watch.

So sorry to hear this news. I think they should have tried another timeslot. Nashville is a great show. I am not a big country fan but this show got my attention and opened me up to country music. I hope ABC reconsiders their decision to cancel. Maybe another network could pick this great show up.
Please don’t cancel… At least give us one more season to give us a finale, a closer. Too many things left unanswered in season 4.

There are only 3 shows I Watch on ABC so this is a disappointment. I am bored of detective/dr shows and this was a nice change. Looks like local channels are coming to an end for me!
