The Wiz was a hit for NBC, and now the network wants to bring back the people behind the popular live musical back to the network for a new drama series.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, executive producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan and choreographer, Fatima Robinson, are developing a new dance drama based on Robinson’s life. The series will be set during the 1990s.
No writer has been attached to the series yet. It is in the early stages of development for the network.
The Hollywood Reporter detailed Robinson’s experience as a choreographer:
“Robinson’s choreography credits include features Dreamgirls, Ali, Collateral, Miami Vice and Public Enemies. She’s also one of the top performance producers for NBC’s The Voice. Her work has been seen on Oscar telecasts, the Super Bowl, Grammys and music videos for performers including Pharrell Williams, Rihanna, Black-Eyed Peas, Sade and Britney Spears.”
This is not the only dance drama in the works. TV Series Finale recently reported on a CW project from Kat Graham. She currently stars on The Vampire Diaries.
