The ratings for NCIS dropped last season but the series remained the most-watched TV show on network television. While there seems to be no chance of NCIS being cancelled, shows do get more expensive the longer they’re on the air and this one’s been around a long time. Could this be the final season or is a 13th season renewal all-but guaranteed? Stay tuned.
On NCIS, Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and his team of special agents continue to investigate crimes that involve the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. Co-stars are Emily Wickersham, Michael Weatherly, Sean Murray, David McCallum, Pauley Perrette, Rocky Carroll, and Brian Dietzen.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/11 update: To no surprise, CBS has renewed NCIS for a 13th season.
Final season averages: 2.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 17.26 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
For comparisons: The 11th season of NCIS averaged a 2.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 18.5 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the NCIS TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a 13th season? How long should it continue?
I still love it.
I watch all the reruns and new. I never get tired of it. I love this show and do not want it to ever go off the air.
I Live this show. I never want it to end.
I miss Ziva SO much. She was the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love all the characters on NCIS
My favorite show alongside csi with Gary Sinise
I like Bishop.. Keep her. I get sick of the super women. They needed a change,
Although I did like Ziva but she s gone and Bishop s character should not be the same.
She fits in just fine
Thats why, my favorite show (im obsessed) is going down, Kate wasnt a super woman! Ziva did a awesome job taking over, you have to have a atrong woman character, because if yhe men she is around, not dull and boring!! It had to be zing and zong!!
Sure, there have been episodes of this season that haven’t been as good as others, but that’s par for the course in nearly every show I love. I know it can’t stay on the air for forever, but I hope all the shows in the NCIS family are around for many years to come!
Season 12 has not been up to par. I agree with those who say Bishop is the reason for the lower ratings. Kate and Ziva were strong women and had sex appeal. Bishop has neither. Nor is her character a positive for the show. Gibbs’ haircut is out-of-character. While all the actors are doing their jobs well something is still missing. Is it the rumor that Mark Harmon wants to leave the show ? Is it my imagination or is he looking thinner – unhealthy thinner ?
Gibbs is too thin – is he sick?
I’ve noticed that he is thinner this season….he was suffering from older man’s spread in the gut, perhaps a serious diet has been in effect? I know he looks better this season (weight loss and new hair) than he has in the past.
Bishop is still a problem in the show, it’s time for her to be shot off and on with another agent that works well…and it does not have to be a female, just a character that works well with the show.
For the whole season Bishop has been an accessory who is given a few meaningless lines. I would very much like to see her replaced with a dynamic character and an A class actress. CBS at least owes the fans that much rather than allowing NCIS to die a slow boring death. Surely a ratings hit deserves better than to have an albatross around its neck for someone’s ego to be saved by refiusing to admit a character mistake. Now we’re going to have a soap about poor Bishop’s marriage. It seems even her husband can’t tolerate her.
What in the world has happened to NCIS?????? The story lines are weak, the agent Bishop character isn’t working and director Vance should have been replaced a LONG time ago. Used to be that the characters grew in their roles; Timothy did, Tony did, Ziva did but not Bishop or Vance. The plots and outcomes are predictable. So sad to see such a top-rated show go down the tubes.
Can’t stand the dull, run-of-the-mill character of Bishop. The show is just not as good with this lack luster addition.
Well I have really tried to give Bishop a chance. She is a good actress and dors bring some interest but…what happened to the close family of agents? What happened to plots you liked to guess what would happen but there was usually a cool twist? If the writters got some fresh ideas with the old dry witt and humor……Bishop could be better with better scripts…she has ability…let her use it and lets see….
I love the show but stopped watching after Ziva left and Bishop came to the show. I was hoping Bishop would be only temporary, but when I realized that she was staying, I stopped watching the show. I gave her a chance, but the show went downhill from thereon. Please get rid of Bishop and replace her with another strong woman who has character, like Kate and Ziva. Do not end the show. The falling viewer ratings are not because people don’t like the show; they are because of Bishop.
