As previously reported, ABC had planned on running just four of its six episodes of October Road. Though the series shows evidence of losing steam, ABC has changed their plans.
October Road debuted on March 15th to 13.93 million viewers. The second episode dropped 16% and the third dropped to less than 8.3 million. Despite this decline, the series has been attracting a healthy percentage of the desirable 18-49 demographic.
ABC had planned to air only four of the six episodes of October Road this season. If the series was renewed then the remaining two episodes would air as part of season two. ABC has now decided to air the remaining two episodes this season.
October Road will take a one week break while a double dose of sitcom Notes from the Underbelly debuts on April 12th. Underbelly will then move to Wednesday nights beginning April 18th. The two episodes of October Road will air on April 19th and 26th. No word on what will occupy the timeslot after that.
A final decision on an October Road second season will likely be announced in mid-May at the network upfronts. Stay tuned!
I love the show. It is by far may favorite. It was Grey’s Anotomy but not now. I hope it builds up the steam it needs.
LOOOVE it. I will be VERY upset if they don’t bring this show back. I agree that ABC keeps ******** with the schedule. Men in Trees, What About Brian, Six Degrees are all great shows. I have to say October Road is my favorite so far. I feel like I can hardly wait to see the next episode. I never get this obsessed with tv shows.
I don’t watch very many TV shows, but my mom and I faithfully watch this every week together, and even my dad has started watching it with us. I absolutely love this. Any show I start watching from the first episode always gets cancelled in or after the first season….. I will watch EVERY NEW SHOW on ABC to get them all cancelled if this one doesn’t come back!
This show is fabulous. One of the best ever. The characters and story line are great and the tunes are the bomb! It is the talk of our office. ABC really has something great here. Please give it more than a 4-6 episode chance.
Great show – reminiscent of ‘Ed’. It would be a mistake not to keep it on the air.
this show is awesome it can’t get cancelled!!!
I love this show, when I miss it on thursdays I always catch up online; so I am ready for the next week. It has a great story line and the music is wonderful I hope the show stays and we watch their lives unfold. This and Greys are the the only shows I look forward to all week.
I love this show. This show is like a breath of fresh air. Everyone can relate to this show in some way; whether its a past love, or coming back home. Each episode just makes you look forward towards the next show. I think if the network cancels this, it would be a huge mistake.
I think ABC should give October Road a chance. The story line is not one that has been done before and viewers need to see what is going to happen with Nic and Hannah and Sam.
October Road is a great show. I can’t wait for the news on the show to come out in mid-May. I think them playing out the final 2 episodes is a play to see if the audience levels out at it’s current viewership.
I love this show — the April 5th episode was just great. I can’t believe this show is in jeopardy, and I really hope it’s brought back.
For the love of God please DO NOT cancel this show!! The network really has somthing here, a lot of people don’t watch sows from the very first episode either cuz they miss it, haven’t heard of it or it conflicts with another show. a dropped rating of 16% is nuts to cancel a show over. I can’t believe we have to wait 2 weeks for Hannah to finally tell Nick straight up that Sam is his son. Which is what I’m assuming is gonna happen in this episode juging by the preview ( although they can be decieving ).… Read more »
I was upset about having Men In Trees interrupted, but I will say that I think October Road is great too. Please stop teasing us, and go ahead and give the good shows a chance.
My wife and I love this show. The draw to me was laura prepon, we loved that 70s show, and she is as great and gorgeous as ever.
